Sleepy Santa

Well, here we are on the last day of November, and I've pretty much managed to stick to my personal challenge of posting a card a day for the entire month.  I missed a couple of days, but made up for it the day after, and posted a snow globe one day instead of a card (but there was stamping & colouring in it!).  What you didn't know is that I had a rush project come up in the first few days of the month, where I made an additional 9 or 10 paper craft projects that haven't appeared on my blog!  I'm pretty proud that I still managed to post cards during those few days of hectic crafting.  You can expect my posts to slow down a bit over the next few weeks as I get all those cards addressed and in the mail... I'll pretty much be back to my usual 3 or 4 posts a week, I'm sure.  Here's what I've put together today:
This is one of the three images that come with the Sleepy Santa Try-fold set from Art Impressions.  They are intended to be used together on a three panel card, but they are lovely just used on their own as I have here.  I made a second card which is a complete CASE of a card I made a few weeks ago:

So all in all, I've managed to make 31 cards this month, and my stash is looking pretty good.
Patterned papers are Elf Magic, Bo Bunny; Cardstock is Pacifica, Cranberry & White Daisy, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Twine is American Crafts; Window die is Memory Box; Sentiment dies are Verve.

Reindeer Games

Hold onto your hats... you may need to blink a few times with this one :o)  I've paired some bright and busy Bo Bunny papers with my favourite Art Impressions Christmas stamp from this year's collection: Reindeer Games (Sku#4351).  She is a fun gal, so bright and busy works just fine.  Funny sidenote about my son (who just turned 18); other than the standard "Mom, Dad, cat and bat"...one of the very first words he learned to spell when he was 3 or 4 in kindergarten, was "reindeer".  Yep.  I don't even think it was the holiday season, and I'm pretty sure that he could barely hold a pencil, but he could spell reindeer.
I especially love her little speech bubble, because she's definitely hollerin' at someone.  Here's a closeup:

Patterned paper is Elf Magic, Bo Bunny; Cardstock is Kraft & White Daisy, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Martha Stewart Baker's Twine; Stamp set is Reindeer Games, Art Impressions.

CAS Christmas Joy

For a lot of people, CAS means even 'cleaner' than this - but here is my version of Clean & Simple.  No stamping today, just two lovely Memory Box dies, a bow & jingle bells.  I'm a few hours too late for the Dynamic Duos colour challenge this week, but I've used their colours as my inspiration:
Cardstock is Tulip, Cotton Candy, Pear & White Daisy, all CTMH; Joy Script die and Tupelo Circle die, Memory Box; Twine is American Crafts, Ribbon & jingle bells, Michaels.

A Square Mojo card

I used the square option from this week's Mojo Monday sketch, and had fun distressing the edges of my papers - I don't do it very often!  I pulled out some Tim Holtz distress glitter and added it around the edges of my pieces, too.  My second generation grey snowflake has disappeared in the photo!  It's quite pale, and is behind the sentiment (it's there, really!).  I've used today's Colour Throwdown colours as well:
Patterned papers are Very Merry Christmas, Echo Park; Cardstock is Grey Flannel & White Daisy, CTMH; Stamp set is Frosted WOTG, CTMH; Inks are Grey Flannel & New England Ivy, CTMH; Olive Waxy Flax, CTMH; Tim Holtz Distress Glitter.

Caroling Tots

It's my day to post on the Art Impressions blog!
I have a soft & sparkly Christmas card for you today, featuring the sweet Caroling Tots (Sku#T307) stamp:

You can barely tell that I have sprinkled chunky glitter all across the icicle border, on the snowflakes and in and around the carolers - but it is quite soft & sparkly in person!  The sentiment is Bright with Joy (Sku#H4078)
Don't forget that our Gobble T'il You Wobble Challenge (cards with movement) is on for an extra week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, so you still have plenty of time to join in!
Happy stamping, everyone!  And a very Happy Thanksgiving, too!

Retro Sketches #91 & Inspired By #97

Just getting this one posted before midnight!  I used a combo of two challenges tonight, Laurel's pretty Inspired By photo for colour inspiration, paired with the Retro Sketch:
Not the best photo... the yellow is much warmer in person...and I've added chunky glitter to the white stars and in and around the sentiment.  I'm also going to enter this into the November Diva Dare on the Verve blog which is to use a common shape on your card.
Patterned papers are Aspen; Cardstock is Outdoor Denim & Creme Brulee; Ink is Outdoor Denim - all Close To My Heart; Stamp set is Peace on Earth, Verve;  Seeing Stars dies, Taylored Expressions.

Always Grateful

I've used one of the trees from CTMH's Always Grateful stamp set, along with a sentiment from last year's Pear & Partridge WOTG to make two cards tonight (both the same!).  The papers are from the Sparkle and Shine pack:

Another Santa's Helper

This is my second card this week, using Santa's Helper - Eunice!  And strangely enough... it's my third card using the Mojo Monday sketch?!  Yep, it just seems to work with everything I'm touching this week...
Patterned papers are So This is Christmas, Carta Bella; Cardstock is Kraft, Cranberry & White Daisy, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento and Cranberry, CTMH; Ruby Chevron ribbon, CTMH; Stamp sets are Santa's Helper - Eunice, Art Impressions and Perfect Fit Holidays, CTMH; Copic Markers.

Merry Monday & Freshly Made Sketches

I have a simple little Christmas card that came together pretty quickly...  I've used this week's Freshly Made Sketch and the Merry Monday prompt of using a tree & some bling on your card:

I am a post behind in my quest to do a card a day for November, so even though I had this half assembled yesterday, I didn't get it posted until now, so stay tuned for something else later today.

Patterned papers are Mistletoe; Cardstock is Colonial White; Ink is Chocolate; Stamp set is Evergreen - all CTMH; MFT snowflake die, Martha Stewart snowflake punch.

Frosted Christmas Village

I have another card using this week's Mojo Monday sketch to share today - it's such a great sketch, perfect for using patterned papers, a good sized image and stitching (all of which I love!).  These are the papers from the Frosted Workshop on the Go paired up with Cocoa and the church from the Christmas Village set:
I added 3 square sparkle gems to the top corner, and there is a silver thread running through the Baker's Twine... but I think that I may go back and add a little glitter to the snow on the roof just to add a little extra sparkle.
Patterned papers, sentiment stamp set, twine and Frosted Turquiose cardstock are all Frosted WOTG, Close To My Heart; Cocoa and Colonial White cardstock and Christmas Village stamp set also CTMH.

A Bright & Sparkly Christmas!

I have a bright & sparkly card for you today, using the Art Impressions Lighted Snowman Set (Sku#4349) that I used in my Faux Globe last week...  The houndstooth is a shimmery paper, and the glitter tape and bling give it a fair bit of sparkle.  The inside sentiment is "Have a bright & sparkly Christmas!":
Patterned papers are Sparkle & Shine, Close To My Heart and Season's Greetings by Echo Park; Cardstock is Grey Flannel & White Daisy; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Sparkles, CTMH; Martha Stewart snowflake punch and Snowflake dies from My Favorite Things.

Santa's Helper

I am up on the Art Impressions blog today!
When it comes to Ai People stamps... Eunice is a character that appears several times in the collection.  There is Eunice in business attire, Ballerina Eunice, and today I'm featuring Santa's Helper - Eunice (Sku#P1790):
Isn't she a riot?  I've coloured her in Copic Markers to match my background papers, and have used this week's wonderful Mojo Monday sketch as my design.  I popped her up on pop dots, slid some ribbon underneath the main panel, and tied my bow with some green twine that I glued tiny jingle bells onto.
Happy Stamping everyone!

Have a Happy Birthday

Today is my oldest's 18th birthday!  He's away at school, so I made this a few days ago and sent it off in a care pkg (sniff).  I know, you're thinking that this isn't the most masculine of cards... but it is bright and fun, so I'm going with it :o)  I used CTMH's new Chevron Borders to make my background, stamping one of the strips repeatedly on the diagonal, cleaning it and reinking each time:
I just LOVE how the background turned out, and love this colour combo, too!  The card is 5 1/2" square.
Cardstock is Pacifica, Lagoon, Pear, Smoothie, Creme Brulee & White Daisy; Inks are Pacifica, Lagoon, Smoothie, Cotton Candy, Pear & Creme Brulee; Stamp sets are A Little Everything & Chevron Borders - all Close To My Heart;  Twine is American Crafts.

Deconstructed Sketch #127

Just under the wire here in getting a card posted tonight...  It's been a crazy 7 days, but I do believe that all of my commitments have ended, so I'm looking forward to a slightly more sane pace in the weeks ahead :o)  Scroll down to see a few pictures of one of the events that added to my crazy schedule this week.  Now for my card...  I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch, and one of my Art Impressions favourites, "Ugly Sweater":
and here's the fun inside sentiment:

Patterned papers are Very Merry Christmas, Echo Park; Cardstock is Kraft, Ruby & White Daisy, CTMH; Stamp set is Ugly Sweater, Art Impressions; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Hemp, CTMH.
And here is what my daughter and I did with my brother-in-law yesterday.  It's called the Edgewalk on the CN Tower in Toronto.  We were 116 stories above the ground, on a platform that is 1.5m wide.  Even though we were securely harnessed in, I had a bit of a death grip on my rope (smile).  Paige loved it.  That's me in the red hat:

Gobble 'Till You Wobble! Blog Hop

The Art Impressions Design Team is hopping today to share the newest Ai Shake Your Booty sets!

Oh my goodness, these are SO much fun - if you haven't tried them before, you'll want to visit all the blogs today to check out all the sets.  Shake Your Booty stamps have a head & shoulders image that goes on the front of your card, and a "derriere" stamp that goes on the inside.  The inside stamp is popped up on an Action Wobble, giving the booty stamp a little shake when you open up your card.  I'm featuring the Hula Set (Sku#UM4306):

Don't you just adore her coconut bra?  I popped her up over a leafy die cut that I thought looked a lot like tropical palm leaves, and put one of the sentiments from the Uptown Girls Set (Sku#4129) on the front.  Now for the fun part:

There's my little wobbly grass skirt on the left, and the sentiment on the right says "Shake your GRASS!"  Too funny - it's a perfect card for one of your sassier friends :o)  Here's a close up:

You should have arrived here from Crystal's blog... and your next stop along the hop is Kerry.  Here's a list of all the blogs on our Hop today:

Art Impressions < You started here!

Karen Day - you are here!

Oh - and did you know that Ai has a Design Team call on right now??  Check the post out here.

Thanks for hopping with us today - happy stamping everyone!

Vicki's Frosted WOTG

The very talented Vicki Wizniuk came up with an alternate version to the Frosted WOTG, using tones of Twilight, Slate & Whisper - and they are just gorgeous!  (See my sidebar to visit Vicki's blog - her artwork is inspiring!)  Very frosty & sparkly looking.  Several of my card class ladies have opted to do this version, so I've been working on samples to show them.  Here's the first:
All supplies are Frosted Workshop on the Go, plus Twilight, Whisper & Slate cardstock, and Twilight ink - all Close To My Heart.

A Faux Globe!

It's my day on the Art Impressions blog, and I think I just coined a new product name... today I am sharing a Faux Globe with you (snow globe, get it?) using the sweet Lighted Snowman Set (Sku#4349).  A few days ago, Kate our wonderful Design Team Coordinator, got me thinking of 3D items... and with the current popularity of Mason jar crafts, I decided to try making my own little snowglobe.  Here's what I came up with:
This is definitely not the norm for me!!  I wasn't even sure if it would work, right up until I screwed the lid on... but voila!  It did!  I will admit that while I was inhaling glitter up my nose, and having batting stick to my gluey fingers, I may have muttered Kate's name a few times (smile!) but I think she did me a favour in getting me to think outside my box.

I stamped my snowman and coloured him with Copic markers, then cut around him, leaving about 1 1/4" of paper at the bottom, with a score mark 3/8" up.  I also stamped a couple of trees in the same fashion to use as a background.  Both pieces were glittered up.  I also made a little brace which you'll see in the following photos, which helped hold the pieces upright.

I used Liquid Glass to glue the snowman to the lid, with the little brace behind him.

Then I glued the trees into place.

I glued pieces of quilt batting in front, between and behind all of my pieces, and liberally sprinkled it with glitter.  Before putting the jar on, I dotted a little Liquid Glass on the inside of the jar, and tossed in some glitter so that it would look like glittery snow sticking to the inside of the jar.  Now you hold your breath, hold your tongue right, and carefully put the lid on and screw it tight.  I added a piece of ribbon, and a button and bow around the bottom to finish him off.  Here's a closeup of my little guy:

All in all, it probably took the same amount of time or less than it takes to make your average card.  Hope you'll all make your own Faux Globes this season!
