More OCS Card Kits

Well the weather where I live has finally settled into some fall-like temperatures, so it's the perfect time to settle into your craft room and get started on your Christmas cards!  One Crazy Stamper has six new card kits to get you started - I am going to share two new ones with you today.  Here is Card Kit #17 featuring Little Drummer Boy & Friends RR015 with the sentiment Pa Rum Pa Pum Pum H090 both from High Hopes Rubber Stamps:
And here is Card Kit #16 featuring Christmas Baby Girl RR012 with the sentiment Dot Warm Winter Wishes H257 from High Hopes Rubber Stamps:
Each card kit includes the card bases, envelopes, rubber stamps and all the cut pieces required to make four cards exactly as shown here - even the little poinsettia die cuts and the stars for the Drummer boy card.  There is a full colour instruction sheet that includes a list of suggested Copic markers (you can colour them any way you like, with your preferred medium!) along with the cutting measurements in case you'd like to create more cards using your own paper.  So all you need to do is head over to the One Crazy Stamper store in Bolton (if you're nearby!) or to the website here to see all of the card kits... then after a little colouring, you'll have four cards put together faster than you can say "I love cardmaking!"
I'll be back next Saturday with the last two kits!  Happy stamping :o)
Oh, and did I mention that the kits are just $21.95?

Tuesday Threads with Karen

It's the September edition of Tuesday Threads with Karen, over on the Art Impressions blog
When I first learned that Art Impressions had come out with the Shop Hop fabric line available through Henry Glass Co., I immediately thought of the Ai Girlfriends stamp set called Quilt Set (Sku #4544) and wanted to make something to coordinate with the quilt in the image.  I decided to make a quilted style project that I've put into an embroidery hoop that can be hung on the wall of my craft room.  I made a matching mug rug as well:
I'm using an 8" diameter hoop, so I decided that I would do a pattern of squares that are all 3 1/4" after being sewn together.  I cut all of my pieces, including squares of Therm-O-Web's medium weight fusible Tricot interfacing that I fused on the back of each square of fabric.  I traced a heart shape onto the pink print, and adhered it to the cream square using Therm-O-Web's Heat n Bond Lite iron-on adhesive.
Using some embroidery floss, I did a blanket stitch around the raw edge of the heart to finish it off:
After a good pressing, I placed my finished square into the embroidery hoop.  On the backside, I hand sewed a running stitch around the excess fabric that was not in the hoop, and cinched it up so that the fabric is hidden underneath.  Now it's ready to hang on a nail on the wall!
While I was cutting my fabrics, I decided that a mugrug was in order, so I cut out a front and back square ( 3 3/4") along with a square of Therm-O-Web's Hi-loft Fusible Fleece to sandwich in between:
I cut another pink fabric heart, adhered it in the same way, and stitched around the edges again with embroidery floss.  I also used my sewing machine to stitch through all the layers, about 1/4" around the heart.  I sewed on the bias tape, carefully mitering the corners (I'm getting better at this!) and handsewed it down on the backside:
And finally, I coloured up the gals in the quilt.  I used all the vibrant shades that are in the spool fabric to colour the image with Copic markers, and kept the rest of the card bright & fun.

Happy sewing, everyone!

Art Impressions & Stamptember!

Art Impressions has created an exclusive custom stamp set for Simon Says Stamp as part of the Stamptember celebrations!  The Ai Design Team are all sharing projects today to help kick off the launch, along with a few projects on the SSS blog.  Here is what I came up with using "To Perfection":

A classic Ai Girlfriends stamp!  I used the pretty Heart of Home papers by Jen Hadfield, and was trying to make it look like the gal on the right is drinking a glass of rose wine, but it looks more like pink lemonade!!  Oh well, you get the idea...
The stamp can only be purchased over on the SimonSaysStamp.com site - so head over and grab it while you can :o)  Visit the SSS blog today to see inspiration from the rest of the Ai Design Team.

Flowers & Foliage

The Art Impressions Design Team are back with week 2 of our Flowers & Foliage challenge - and we are helping to launch the newest collection of Ai Watercolour sets.  (If you didn't see last Thursday's post on the Ai blog - check it out, our Watercolour Design Team posted some gorgeous creations!).  I made a special card today for my wonderful niece, who just completed her Masters degree - an achievement in itself, but she also did it while teaching full time, and building a new house with her husband.  Yes, she is Superwoman.  I couldn't be happier for her!  She also got a very cute new puppy named Axe recently... so when Ai came out with the cute little puppies set in their watercolour line - I new what I was creating!
I started by stamping one of the puppies from WC Dogs Set (Sku #4959) and added an eye patch just like Axe has...  Then I masked him and stamped the milk pail from WC Containers (Sku #4111).  The bits & pieces in the pail are all from the WC Fall Set (Sku #4963) - love these!!  And then I used one of my favourite new Ai products - the WC Fence Dies (Sku #4967).  I die cut the fence out of a scrap piece of paper and used it as a mask behind my images, and then painted around it to create my grassy hillside.  I added some shadows to the undersides of the fence boards to give it some dimension.  (If you take another peak at the Halloween Shadow Box that I shared a few weeks ago, you'll see that I used the Fence dies to create my creepy fence!).  The grasses are from Foliage Set (Sku #4051) and the sentiment is from WC Sentiments Set (Sku #4903).

Farm Window

I have an Art Impressions Windows to the World card to share with you today, in wonderful fall tones.  Here is Farm Window (Sku # M3180):
I have sort of a "mottled" (non-blended) style of colouring with Copic markers, which I think worked fairly well with this image, as it gives more of a textured look to the grass and foliage.  It's also a quicker way to colour - so this card came together in no time!  I love plaids that are on the diagonal, and they worked well with the square image.  I used a couple of stitched dies to cut out the image and a small banner.
Happy Stamping!
Copics used: Greens - YG95, YG93, YG91, YG03, YG01, YG00
Oranges - YR18, YR07, YR04, YR02, Y11

Watercolour Birthday

It was my Mother-In-Law's 89th birthday yesterday, and I thought she would enjoy a pretty watercoloured card.  I had painted my scene a little while ago using the Art Impressions Watercolour stamps and my Tombow & Marvy markers.  I used WC Series 7 Set 2 (Sku # 3545), along with a few of the flower and foliage stamps, and Verve's Happy Thoughts for the sentiment.  The papers are ancient ones from Close To My Heart!

I used Freshly Brewed by Tim Holtz along with Coffee and the Coffee word die from Verve, and some old CTMH papers that I love.  I'll be back with the second one tomorrow!  Happy hopping :o)

Freshly Made Sketches #305

A quick Christmas card tonight - I love the new Freshly Made Sketch, so many ways to interpret it!  I used some new (to me!) Echo Park papers and an old CTMH stamp... along with my new stitched snowflake dies from Memory Box, which I've been dying to use:

Happy Fall

It's September already!  And while I never want to wish away the summer... I adore the fall!  And a new season always means a fresh new crafting theme - warm, rustic colours and fall themed papers!  I was inspired to make a card with this sweet scarecrow from Art Impressions - the set is called Happy Fall Set (Sku #4525):
I stamped him and the sentiment on some cream card stock, then coloured the image with my Copic markers.  I used some stitched dies to cut them out, then mounted the image with an off-kilter patterned square underneath.  I matted the sentiment and adhered it with pop dots.
I hope you pull out those fall papers and get working on some warm, rustic projects, too!  Our current challenge is Off Kilter!  We want to see your angled panels - hope you can join us.
Copics used: Browns - E47, E44, E43, E41, E40, E57, E55, E53, E51, E18, E15, E13, E00
Greens - G26, G23, G21, YG11, YG03, YG01, YG00
Oranges - YR18, YR07, YR04, YR02, YR00
Reds - R27, R24, R22, R21
Yellows - Y26, Y23, E50
