Color Throwdown Challenge #112

The Color Throwdown features some vivid fall colours this week:
I updated a card design that I had made earlier this year as a valentine... You can't really tell, but all of the hearts are pop-dotted, and all of the paper edges are either sanded or distressed:

Patterned paper is Olivia; Cardstock is Desert Sand, Sweet Leaf, Bamboo & Colonial White; Inks are Desert Sand, Tulip, Sorbet, Sweet Leaf, Bamboo; Stamp set is Grown With Love - all CTMH.

Mojo Monday #158

My 3rd post of the day!  I won't be able to keep the pace up for long... but the challenges have been great today.  I chose Mojo's square sketch today, and grabbed some regular old newsprint to make a little paper flower to go on my card.  I love this look, so I'm going to keep my eyes open for some nicely yellowed old paperbacks to cut up in the future:
Patterned papers - Cosmo Cricket, Girl Friday; Kraft paper - Michael's; Newsprint - The Toronto Star!; Stamp Set is Buttoned Together; Ink is Chocolate; Natural Hemp; Basic Buttons - all CTMH.

Color Chef Challenge

I've been wanting to try one of Kelly Jo's Color Chef Challenges for a while - and when I saw today's colours of Black/Cream/Pear... I got busy cardmaking.  Pear just seems to be my go-to green these days, and I have these little Prima flowers that work really well with it.  It's a simple 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" thank-you card:
Flowers are Prima; Patterned Paper is Olivia; Cardstock is Black/Colonial White; Ink is Black; Stamp sets are Abundance Borders & You're Invited

Heart2Heart Challenge

This week's H2H Challenge is an interesting one - it's called an ABC challenge.  You must:
A - use an alphabet
B - make it a boy card
C - use chocolate
So, since the two boys in my life are 14 & 51... I made an older boy card :o)
All supplies are CTMH - Cardstock is Chocolate, Dutch Blue, Creme Brulee, Sky, Tulip; Stamp Sets are Solo U, Star Power & W189 Alphabet; Inks are Chocolate, Dutch Blue, Tulip; Natural Hemp; Liquid Glass

Play Date Cafe Challenge #48

After viewing the cards that have already been posted for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge, I was inspired by Debbie Carriere's choice to use Moonstruck with Pear & Grey Wool.  I had planned to go with Navy, but Moonstruck makes a much prettier colour combo.  Here was our inspiration:
I pulled out my 'bug, and kept it pretty simple:

Cardstock is Moonstruck, Grey Wool, Pear & White Daisy; Ink is Grey Wool, Stamp Set is Cherish the Moment; Brads are Clover Meadow & Dutch Blue Bigger Brads - all CTMH; Prima Flowers.

Color Throwdown Challenge #111

Here are this week's Color Throwdown Challenge colours:
So I pulled out an older stamp set & pack of papers I've had for years, and made a fun, bold card.  The inside sentiment is "I'd pick you!"

All supplies are CTMH: Patterned Paper is Best Friends; Cardstock is Hollyhock, Indian Corn Blue, Dutch Blue, Colonial White; Inks are Hollyhock, Dutch Blue, Chocolate; Stamp set is Friendship Flowers; Hollyhock & Dutch Blue buttons; Dutch Blue spiral clip.

Mojo Monday! & Heart2Heart Challenge

I could hardly wait for the challenge sites to be up this morning!  I got right down to business with the Mojo Monday Challenge #157... pulled out the new Christmas papers and started creating:

Ribbon is Michael's; Patterned Papers are Mistletoe; Cardstock is Cocoa & Colonial White; Inks are Garden Green, New England Ivy & Cocoa; Stamp sets are Holiday Trinkets & Festive Thoughts - all CTMH.  Martha Stewart punch.

And for this week's H2H Challenge we also had a sketch!  I'm especially proud of the little scalloped circle behind the deer, I used a 'straight-line' scallop, and curved it around on my block to create the circle shape.  The card is 5 1/2" square:

All supplies are CTMH: Patterned paper is Mistletoe; Cardstock is Cocoa & Colonial White; Stamp sets are Nature's Gift & A Little Everything; Inks are Cocoa & Garden Green; Ribbon is Creative Basics, Mistletoe; Metal tag is Connections Club; Nature's Ambiance rub ons.

Play Date Cafe Challenge #47

What a great colour combo for this week's PDCC!
I used the cover of the CTMH Spring 2010 Idea Book for inspiration:

All supplies are CTMH: Stamp sets are One of a Kind & Love Life; Cardstock is Lagoon, Black, White Daisy & Clover Meadow; Inks are Black and Holiday Red; Ribbon is Cranberry Grosgrain.  Sparkles.

My first Blog Award! How exciting :o)

What a nice surprise to find a blog award waiting for me a couple of days ago!  Debbie Carriere is someone whose wonderful artwork keeps popping up everywhere I go (blogs, challenge sites, the CTMH website...) so it's doubly nice to receive the award from such a talented crafter.  Check out her blog here.

Here are the rules for accepting this award:
1. Thank the person who gave it to you. Thanks, Debbie ;o)
2. Post the award on your blog. Check.
3. Tell everyone three things that you love.  My kids.  Knitting socks.  Dark chocolate.
4. A picture you love.  Now here's a hard one, but I'm going to post one I took in the garden of a vineyard in Prince Edward County while we were at a wine tasting this summer:
5. Pass the award on to 5 blogs you love.  This was tough.  I didn't choose based on the blogs, but the artist's work.  Some of these ladies may not know me, but I've either run into their work on other blogs, or have followed them on the CTMH artwork board for years in some cases.  They're all very inspiring, so be sure to check out what they're up to.

Color Throwdown Challenge #110

I haven't had a chance to do the Color Throwdown Challenge for the last couple of weeks, so I'm glad to be back!  Here is the color inspiration for this week:
This is similar to a card I did a few weeks ago, but I really loved the simplicity of it, so I made a 5"x6 1/2" version with a little ribbon:

All supplies are CTMH: Stamp Set is Something Splendid; Cardstock is White Daisy, Vineyard Berry, Grey Wool & Baby Pink Textured; Inks are Vineyard Berry, Baby Pink & Grey Wool; Ribbon is Vineyard Berry Organdy; Opaque Pearls.

Mojo Monday!

The idea for this week's Mojo Monday sketch was to use up scraps... so I dug out some bits and pieces and came up with:
(I photographed it in the sunlight so that the glimmer mist would show up on the wings!)
Patterned papers are Cosmo Cricket, Everafter; Cardstock is Cocoa & Colonial White; Stamp Sets are State of Mind & Butterfly Kiss; Inks are Cocoa & Sorbet; Opaque Pearl (all CTMH).  Here is the sketch:

Play Date Cafe Challenge #46

Whoa!  This week's Play Date Cafe Challenge started out as a simple card idea and morphed into something completely different!  Our inspiration was black, white & a pop of colour - so I chose pink.  I definitely wanted to do a wallpaper background, and after changing my sentiment a couple of times, out came the flowers and it turned out much more 'bridal' looking than I intended (I blame all the PDCC designers who had a bit of a bridal thing going on this week...)  As always, I'm very happy to have come up with something that is outside of the box for me.  So here is our jumpstart photo, and what I created:

Pink flowers are Prima, ribbon Michaels, everything else is CTMH: Stamp sets are State of Mind & Damask Tiles; Cardstock is White Daisy & Black; Ink is Black; Opaque Pearls; Just Blooms Paper Flowers.

Mojo Monday #155 & Play Date Cafe #45

I'm catching up on my challenges, so I've combined this week's Mojo Monday sketch, and the Play Date Cafe Challenge.  The sketch is great:
And here is the colour inspiration from the Play Date Cafe:

I had to work really hard to put these colours together!  I used my corner rounder to create the scallops, and thought that it worked pretty well.  This is my 2nd post for today, scroll down to see my H2H card:

All supplies are CTMH: Patterned papers are Fleurs des Jardines, Vineyard Berry; Cardstock is Vineyard Berry, Goldrush & Bamboo; Stamp sets are Live Inspired & The Present; Vineyard Berry Organdy Ribbon & Eyelets; Bitty Sparkles.

Heart2Heart Challenge

First, I have to toot my own horn, because this past Friday, my stitching card (here) made it into the Friday Five for the H2H challenge 2 weeks ago!  It was a fun surprise to see it up on the blog...  And so for the first week of school H2H has a colour challenge:

It's totally appropriate, since it was close to 40 degrees (in the 90's farenheit) all of last week - we had a storm blow through and are now sitting around 15 as our high (low 60's).  So the fall colours felt right.  Here's what I came up with:
I cut out the two smallest leaves, pop dotted them, and then dangled an acorn from the ribbon with a safety pin:

Ribbon unknown - everything else is CTMH: Stamp set is Autumn Splendor; Textured Cardstock is Autumn Terracotta; Cardstock is New England Ivy & Colonial White; Inks are Autumn Terracotta, New England Ivy, Honey & Desert Sand; Safety Pin is Garden Green; Bigger Brads are New England Ivy.

Heart2Heart Challenge

"Fun Folds" is this week's Heart2Heart Challenge, so it was a good excuse to finally try a tri-fold card. I'd always thought that these were too 'labour-intensive' to be worth it - but that's not it at all!  Yes, it was a fair bit of cutting, and yes I used my sponge dauber to ink all the edges... but it went together really quickly.  And cards like this are where coordinating paper packs really come in handy (you barely have to think :o).  The finished/folded size is 4" x 6".  This was a tough one to photograph - so I took a bunch!
Prima flower, everything else is CTMH: Patterned Paper is Caprice; Cardstock is Chocolate, Colonial White & Honey; Chocolate ink; Basic buttons; Stamp set is Follow Your Dreams.

Color Throwdown Challenge #108

Ooh - this week's Color Throwdown Challenge was a nice one:
It made me think of coffees/cappuccinos & lattes!  So I pulled out one of my fave stamp sets "Coffee Shop" and went to work.  I used this week's Mojo sketch for inspiration (scroll down to my previous post), and decided to make a little pocket - so be sure to check out the second photo with the tag pulled out!  I used some liquid applique to create the "foam" on my latte - and yes, those are real coffee grains in it, so it's actually a scratch & sniff card!  This was a lot of fun to make :o)

All supplies are CTMH: Stamp sets are A Little Everything, Coffee Shop; Patterned paper is Veranda; Cardstock is Chocolate & Sorbet (Kraft unknown); Ink is Chocolate; Ribbon is Sorbet, Creative Basics & Buttercup Organdy; Liquid Applique
