Dynamic Duos #46

It's Dynamic Duos challenge time!  And you get to have a little input into our colour scheme this week, as we are featuring projects made with Primrose Petals and a "colour of your choice!".  So I had fun with a new 6x6 paper pack from Carta Bella that I recently acquired.  I decided to go with a soft grass green colour, and went die-crazy using five different dies on my card today.  This little pinwheel die is so fun, and works especially well with double sided paper:
If you don't have the exact colour, just use something similar.  We ask that you only use the two colours on your card, but neutrals are welcome.  Check out the Dynamic Duos blog to see all the fabulous inspiration from my fellow Dynamos... or you can see them listed on my sidebar.  Wishing you all a wonderful Easter weekend!

Patterned papers are Carta Bella; Stamp set and Pinwheel die are L'il Inkers; Picket Fence die and Cloud Duo dies are Taylored Expressions; Icicle Border die is My Favourite Things; Cardstock is Slate, Cotton Candy & White Daisy, CTMH; Bigger brad, CTMH; Ink is Black and Cotton Candy, CTMH.

Vive La Verve! - Viva Dare

Verve's March Diva Dare is a fun one - they've asked us to combine the crafting styles of Maureen Plut & Laurie Schmidlin - both of whom are some of my favourite Verve Divas :o)  Needless to say, I really wanted to play along... so I've taken Laurie's style of many layers, and she often uses tilted panels... and I added a button tied with waxy flax which is something Maureen often does, for my card.  I've used Verve's Week 4 Viva La Verve sketch as well:

Patterned papers are Sidewalks, October Afternoon; Stamp set is Better With You, Verve; Cardstock is Tulip, Black & Colonial White, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Clear button & Crystal Blue Waxy Flax, CTMH; Copic markers.

Dynamic Duos #45

This week's Dynamic Duos colour combo is gorgeous!  It's soft, girly, springy, and could even be Easter-y, depending on how you choose to go.  I tried really hard this week, to stick to just our two colours... and I almost made it.  But when it came down to it, my card just looked better with the sentiment and line of arrows stamped in soft grey.  And I'd rather make a card that looks 'better' than not.  I may just have to accept the fact that I'm not a two-colour cardmaker!?  Here's what I came up with:

The colours in my photo are a little stronger than they actually are... and you can't really tell that the chevron paper is two-toned pink... but it is!  Check out the artwork by the design team over at the Dynamic Duos blog for some great inspiration, and if you don't have the exact colours, just use something similar like I did.  Neutrals are welcome.  I've used the photo over at Inspired By as my inspiration this week:
Patterned paper is Kiss Me, Bella Blvd; Cardstock is White Daisy & Cotton Candy, CTMH; Stamp sets are Borderline, Verve and Say it in Style, CTMH; Ink is Grey Wool, CTMH; Baker's Twine, The Twinery. Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, CTMH.

Joyeuses Paques!

That would be "Happy Easter" en francais... which is something that I learned this week :o)  I had a friend request a French Easter card for his mother-in-law, who doesn't speak a word of English (is this guy son-in-law of the century, or what?).  So, I looked up the correct spelling, and individually stamped the greeting using a Close To My Heart font set.  I used an oval die to cut out three ovals under which I glued some (rather ancient) CTMH papers that had an Easter feel to them, added a few accessories and voila!  Not the most exciting card ever, but I thought any of you who've been around CTMH for a while would get a kick out of seeing me pull out some old stuff:

Dynamic Duos #44

It's black tie week at Dynamic Duos... so this week we are featuring So Saffron and Basic Black with a dessert option of using ribbon on your project!  I've been wanting to use this particular sentiment for a while, and thought it would be great on a black/white/colour card.  I'm not a huge bling person, but the silhouette image & the quote lent themselves nicely to me using CTMH's new black glitter paper.  I used plain black cardstock as well, and I really like how the matte paper looks with the glitter paper (it shows up a little better in person).  I'm even counting the strip of rhinestones as 'ribbon' for this challenge!
We would love to have you join us this week, we ask that you use just our two colours (and you can add neutrals if needed) - if you don't have the exact colours, just use something similar.  Check out all the fab ideas from the design team over at the Dynamic Duos blog, or you can see them listed on my sidebar.
Patterned paper is Bella; Cardstock is White Daisy, Black and Black glitter paper; Stamp sets are Be Yourself & Scrapbook Statements - Women; Ink is Black - all Close To My Heart; Spellbinders dies; Rhinestones, Fabricland.

Seize the Birthday #9

Well I've missed the cut-off for this week's Seize the Birthday challenge... but I'm playing along anyway!  I felt like getting my Copics out this evening, so I actually coloured two different images to use with this sketch.  I only got one assembled, so you'll see the other one in a day or two.  This is another Sugar Kissed Cottage image that I really love (anything with that sort-of vintage 50's look works for me!).
Patterned papers are For the Record 2, Echo Park; Cardstock is Kraft & Xpress It; Stamp set is Sugar Kissed Cottage; Baker's Twine, Martha Stewart; Copic Markers.

Carpe Cupcake

Verve does a weekly "Viva La Verve" sketch on Splitcoast Stampers... and I think that this is my first time playing along.  I really liked the sketch when I saw it, so made a fun birthday card using one of my favourite Verve stamp sets "Carpe Cupcake":
Patterned papers are Sidewalks, October Afternoon; Cardstock is Tulip & Black, CTMH; Stamp set is Carpe Cupcake, Verve; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic markers.

Home Sweet Home

I got a chance to pull out the February stamp of the month today - this is such a great set, with awesome fonts (they'd work well done chalkboard style!).  I'm also using the Clare papers for the first time.  When I first saw them in the spring catalogue, I thought they were just "okay" - now, they're my absolute favourite.  I've had a real thing for navy lately, which may be why I'm so drawn to Clare now.  No challenges today, just a card designed by me:
Patterned papers are Clare; Stamp set is Home Sweet Home; Cardstock is Outdoor Denim; Ink is Outdoor Denim; Hollyhock button; Chevron ribbon - all CTMH. Spellbinders die; Twine is American Crafts.

Freshly Made Sketches #76

I think that this paper pack was retired several years ago... and this is the first project that I've made with it!!  Sigh.  I actually pulled it out for a second card after this one, so maybe it's finally getting it's due.  I tipped this week's Freshly Made Sketch over on it's side, and popped up the wings of my butterflies to give them a little dimension:

Patterned papers are Bella; Cardstock is Kraft, Hollyhock & Colonial White; Stamp set is Say it in Style; Ink is Hollyhock; Mocha Opaque pearls - all CTMH; Elegant Butterflies die, Taylored Expressions.

Dynamic Duos #43

We're featuring Pool Pary & Lucky Limeade at Dynamic Duos this week!  This one took me a little while to pull together... I was a bit obsessed with using this week's Sweet Sunday sketch (designed by my fellow Dynamo, Vicki Burdick!) but I had a hard time coming up with paper that worked for "Pool Party"...  So I've taken a bit of creative license with colours this week, and just between you & me - we're counting brown as a neutral today, as well!

We would love to have you join us by creating a creation using our two colours, and if you don't have the exact ones, just use something similar.  Check out all the designer's fabulous inspiration this week over at the Dynamic Duos blog, or you can see them listed on my sidebar.

Patterned papers are Sidewalks, October Afternoon & Graceful, Echo Park; Dies are Spellbinders & Taylored Expressions; Stamp set is Remarkable Wreath, CTMH; Inks are Desert Sand, Juniper & Chocolate, CTMH; Ribbons and cardstock are Key Ingredients kit.

Mojo Monday #283 & The Paper Players #135

I pulled out a Verve stamp set and it's matching dies that I was lucky enough to win last year on their release hop!  I've used this week's Mojo Monday sketch, and am also entering The Paper Player's challenge which is a "stitching" theme this week:
Patterned papers are For the Record 2, Echo Park; Cardstock is Kraft, Topiary & Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp set is Lucky You, Verve; Classy Label Die & Shamrock dies, Verve; Ink is Desert Sand; Hemp, CTMH; Papers and corrugated die cut, Key Ingredients.

Dynamic Duos #42

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I have a fun Dynamic Duos card to share with you today - this week our colours are Garden Green & Daffodil Delight.  I made a card a few weeks ago that was similar (didn't realize how similar until I saw them side by side!)  But I love the new eye chart stamps, and of course the little spectacles are so fun... so you'll probably see these come out a few more times.  The chevrons are a new background stamp, too:

Inside sentiment: And loves you just the same.
I went fairly graphic this week, but there are all kinds of inspiring projects made by the rest of the design team over at the Dynamic Duos blog.  We would love to have you join us!  If you don't have the exact colours, just use something similar.  Neutrals like black, kraft and skin tones are okay, too.

Patterned paper is Life of the Party, Basic Grey; Cardstock is Black and White Daisy; CTMH; Inks are Black and Honey, CTMH; Stamp set is Card Chatter - Focus on a Friend by CTMH; Licorice Opaque Pearls, CTMH;  Spectacles dies, Taylored Expressions.

Freshly Made Sketches #75

I really like this week's Freshly Made Sketch - it's great for showing off some fabulous patterned papers.  I find that when sketches have a lot of small geometric shapes, you need to keep the papers fairly tame, or it just looks too busy.  So I took advantage of this wonderful sketch to use some fun October Afternoon papers and my new Verve pennant die:
Patterned papers are Woodland Park, October Afternoon; Cardstock is Hollyhock, Black and Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp set is Just a Number, CTMH; Baker's Twine, The Twinery; Pennant die, Verve; Ink is Hollyhock, CTMH.
