Frameworks Wreath

I have a fall image today using a non-traditional colour scheme for the upcoming Watercolour Weekend post on the Art Impressions blog.  I practised on scrap paper first, to make sure that the foliage I chose worked, and to determine the placement of each element.

I began with the two pumpkins from 5426 WC Veggies, stamping them in N45 for a lighter image, masking the one in front before stamping the one behind.  I began my floral spray from the bottom up, and coloured the two vines from 5476 - WC Foliage Set 5 in both #533 and #158, for a two-toned look.  I stamped the tiny heart flowers from 4868 - WC Flower Set 2 in #772 repeatedly to create the pink flowers, then added the roses from #5258 - WC Flower Set 4 in #533/565.  With the wheat stamp from 5008 - WC Flower Set 3, I stamped it multiple times in #991, added the leafy branch from 5126 - WC Foliage Set 4 in #158, and the spiky flower from 5258 - WC Flower Set 4 in #772.  I used a damp brush to gently dab the images, and painted a pale wash of #533 around them.  The pumpkins were painted in with #312/992/772 and their stems with #098.

To finish off, I added the twigs from 4964 - WC Branches Set in N55, and then used my positioner to place the frame from 5420 - Frameworks Set 1, being sure to mask off the floral scene so that just the top of it showed - using #N55.  I added a few dots to the background, then die cut it with 5061 - Square Double Stitched Dies, and mounted it with 3D foam tape onto the background.  Be sure to check out the Ai blog on Saturday to see what Tricia & Dot have to share.

Toadstool Birthday

I've pulled out these lovely little toadstool dies to create a birthday card for my sister.  Background die, twig wreath and toadstool dies are all from The Greetery, and the gold embossed sentiment is from Pinkfresh Studio.

I spattered a little gold paint over everything to pick up on the gold sentiment.

Fall cards

I've put together a couple of cards mixing products from Pigment Craft Company & The Greetery today.  I stamped the pumpkins & gourds last fall, so had a little stack of them to choose from.  I did some ink blending and splattering to create some simple backgrounds, and adhered everything with some thin 3D foam adhesive.

Stone Bridge Simple Scene

It's the Watercolour Weekend coming up on the Ai blog this Saturday!

I am using the new: 5577 - Stone Bridge Simple Scene to make a fall painting today.

I coloured the entire scene with Tombow # N65 for a lighter outline, and stamped my cabin from 5262 WC Mini Cabins Set with the help of my positioner.  I painted washes of #158 and #946 on all the hillsides, and added shades of #977, 992 and 565 to the sandy banks.  The stream was done with layers of #493.  I mixed #856 with a little brown to make a duller red shade for the cabin, and did tones of #N65 to paint the chimney and the stone bridge, Using the 5372 - WC Mini Foliage set, I added fall trees around the cabin using #879 and #946, then with #158, I used the background line of trees image to add greenery on the hillsides.  The positioner helped to place the fence from 5371 - WC Barn Set perfectly behind the cabin.  To place some foliage in the foreground, I used flowers from 5475 - WC Flower Set 6 in #158/565 with grasses from 5007 - WC Foliage Set 3.  To balance out the deep blue, I used #565 with the tiny flowers in 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set to place flowers around the cabin, and along the bank of the stream.  #526 was painted in as the sky, and I die cut out the entire scene with my 5061 - Square Double Stitched Die.  After matting and adhering it to my background, I added a sentiment that was stamped on one of the 5133 Flag Double Stitched dies.

Ornament Card

I will be up on the Art Impressions blog this Saturday for the Watercolour Weekend post.  I am using the 5573 - Church and Ornament Set this week!  A fairly quick and easy card using only 2 stamp sets:

I began by painting a wash of #493 on my background, then placed the three ornaments in this set onto a block, keeping in mind the size of my dies.  I  then stamped them onto my Canson XL Watercolour Paper after colouring them with #N65.  I also stamped them onto masking paper, then cut them out to create little ornament masks.  With the masks in place, I used the two pine bough images from 5472 - WC Christmas Wreath Set - and colouring them with #177, I stamped them repeatedly creating Christmas tree branches for the ornaments to hang from.  With a damp brush, I dabbed the branches to soften the lines a little.  After removing the masks, I painted the ornaments in #312/346/725/993/761 - which I chose to match my background paper.  I added metallic silver paint to the tops of the ornaments, and splattered it around the entire card.  I used the new frame from the 5543 Journal Template die to cut the frame in patterned paper, and layered it with 3 pieces of cardstock to create a substantial frame.  I used another rectangle die from the set to cut out my image to be larger than the frame.

I glued everything together, matting the image on some coordinating cardstock.  The spattered silver paint adds a nice bit of sparkle to the card.  Be sure to check out the Ai blog this Saturday to see what Dot and Tricia have to share.  Happy painting!
