Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #56

Just sneaking in a card at the last minute for the April 22nd Sketchbook Saturday sketch challenge.  I was inspired to use my new Baby Jane papers by Cosmo Cricket, here's what I made this evening:

Patterned papers are Baby Jane Mini Deck by Cosmo Cricket; Cardstock is Tulip & Kraft, CTMH; Stamp set is State of Mind, CTMH; Inks are Crystal Blue & Desert Sand, CTMH; Tag is Key Ingredients April Kit; Paper Flower is Sassafrass.

A Pinwheel

These woodgrain papers are so popular this spring, and I had a whole pad of 6x6 paper from My Mind's Eye that I hadn't broken into yet, so I thought I would pull it out and make something spring-y this afternoon.  You may not think that a darker card = springy!  But we've had a lot of grey skies around here lately, and that's kind of what this card reminds me of:

Patterned papers are Fiddlesticks, My Mind's Eye; Cloud die is Taylored Expressions; Pinwheel die is L'il Inker Designs; Echo park brad; Baker's Twine, The Twinery;  Stamp set is Simple Stitches, CTMH.

Tag, You're It!

That is the theme for the April Key Ingredients kit challenge... which means that I used one of the cute little tags that came in my kit, along with last week's Deconstructed Sketch:

CASE study Challenge #87

This month, the CASE Study Challenge blog is casing work by the talented Laurie Schmidlin, whose work is always so inspiring...  So I am glad to be able to play along!  I loved her wooden plank paper, and the strip across the middle of the card, so here's what I came up with:
Here was Laurie's card that we are casing:
Patterned papers are My Mind's Eye, Dolled Up; Cardstock is Crystal Blue, Hollyhock, Seafoam & Colonial White; Stamp set is Words of Wisdom, Verve; Ink is Rich Cocoa, Memento.  Ribbon & flower are from the April Key Ingredients Kit;  Martha Stewart Punch;  Verve dies.

Inspired By #20 & the April SFYTT

I'm so glad to be playing with the Inspired By challenge this week... I've taken a bit of a break from challenges lately to accomplish other commitments, so it's good to be back in the saddle again.  I was inspired by the globes in Laurel's photo this week... and pulled out my new Cruisin' papers to make a Father's Day card.  I've used the April Sketch For You To Try for my layout:
Here was our inspiration photo:
Patterned papers are Cruisin'; Cardstock is Black, Cranberry & White Daisy; Stamp set is Just Like You; Inks are Cranberry & Grey Flannel; Cranberry Waxy Flax; Pewter brads - all CTMH.  Spellbinder's Die.

Dotty & April SOTM

I hope you all like polka dots, because these are definitely my favourite papers of late, and I have LOTS of them!  I had a chance to make a couple of quick cards last night using the CTMH April stamp of the month called You Are...  I hadn't realized how great this set would be for cards until I started playing with it, and paired with these fun bright papers - perfect!  This first card was inspired by one that Elizabeth made:
and here is another one inspired by Kristine:
Patterned papers are Dotty For You; Cardstock is Grey Wool & White Daisy; Stamp set is You Are...; Inks are Sweat Leaf, Sunset, Lagoon & Grey Wool; Baker's Twine, Paradise Assortment - all CTMH.

Guy cards

The final two cards for my class were to be guy cards... so I've used both new & older papers and some fun die cuts.  First is my Sasparilla version:
And the new Cruisin' version:

Patterned papers are Cruisin, Sasparilla; Cardstock is Black, Colonial White, Barn Red, Desert Sand, Twilight; Stamp sets are Happy Birthday; Twill ribbon; Inks are Barn Red & Juniper; - all CTMH.  Star dies, Taylored Expressions.

Here is the second version of my "A Tree" card for my class...  I popped up the foliage again, and sponged a little sweet leaf ink under the tree to suggest some grass:

Dotty & A Shell

This is another card for my card class this weekend, using the current promotional papers "Dotty For You" and a cute little stamp set called A Shell.  I used the tissue stamping method by inking the whole image in Grey Mist ink, then using a tissue dabbed with Creme Brulee ink, I dabbed the image a couple of times, and then repeated it with Smoothie ink.  The overall effect is soft and multi-coloured.  You can't really tell in the photo, but I used a little pink and yellow chalk on the shell image to emphasize it a little more before adding Prisma glitter to the edges.
For my class we are doing two versions of each card, so here it is with the butterfly version I posted a few days ago:
Patterned papers are Dotty For You; Cardstock is Grey Wool, Creme Brulee, Smoothie & White Daisy; Baker's Twine, Paradise Assortment; Prisma Glitter; Stamp sets are Quick cards - A Butterfly & A Shell; Inks are Grey Mist, Smoothie & Creme Brulee; Licorice Opaque Pearl - all CTMH.

Dotty For You

2nd post for today!  Please scroll down to see my Mojo Monday card.  I have another sneak preview for you of the Dotty For You paper pack that is available after April 17th!  I really love polka dots, and there are so many accessories (like the paper flowers) that coordinate with the promo, so card making is a breeze.  The stitching is the same pale yellow as the flower - it shows up a bit better in person.  I've used Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday sketch:
Patterned paper is Dotty For You, Cardstock is Grey Wool & White Daisy; Just Blooms paper flowers, Opaque pearls, Stamp sets are Abundance Borders & Say it in Style; Inks are Grey Wool & Smoothie; Pewter brads - all CTMH; Charming Oval dies, Verve.

Mojo Monday #236

At last, something new!  I'm so happy to be back playing on Mojo this week, it's just nice to have some new artwork to share on my blog...  I haven't used my March Key Ingredients kit enough either, so I pulled it out to get Teresa Kline's pretty sketch made up:
Patterned papers and decorative brad are This & That Graceful by Echo Park; Cardstock & ribbon are The Key Ingredients kit, Taylored Expressions; Spellbinder's die; Stamp set is Words of Wisdom, Verve; Ink is Rich Cocoa, Memento.

Happy Easter!

We don't make a lot of Easter cards around our house... but we do make Easter cupcakes!  Paige had a large order for an office party this week, so she did 1/2 coconut nests and 1/2 with a swirl of icing and a flower:

Enjoy!

I haven't been a very regular blogger of late... I'm working on some swap items, and prepping for a class... and Home Staging has kicked into high gear this month, so I'm working a little more than usual (not a bad thing!).  But I'm also suffering withdrawal from not participating in very many challenges... and I hate it when a good sketch passes me by!  Here is another card for my April class... I love doing rock & roll stamping with blues & greens:
Patterned papers are Veranda & Wings; Cardstock is Kraft, Sweet Leaf & Colonial White; Stamp set is Bohemian Alphabet; Inks are Sweet Leaf & Juniper, Bamboo button - all CTMH; Cuttlebug flower dies; Mini Monarch Border die, My Favorite Things.
