SFYTT for December

Well here we are with the final Sketch For You To Try for 2012, (and the last ever!), and I am pleased to say that I've been able to do all 12 sketches for the year :o) After my December card, I will give a list of links to all the monthly cards at the bottom of my post. Jen has an awesome prize to give away to one lucky player on Christmas Day... This was a harder sketch for me, one tilted panel I can handle, but 3?? So I went for something a little less structured, and a bit distressed using some lovely Authentique papers:

Patterned papers are Peaceful by Authentique, Cardstock is Black and Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp set is Merry & Bright, CTMH; Inks are Black, Bamboo & Pear; Martha Stewart coarse glitter; Martha Stewart snowflake punch; Let it Snowflake dies, My Favorite Things.

A couple of Challenges

It's not often that I have several cards to post in one day!  But I'm in major Christmas card mode, as well as finishing up prototypes for a card class... so I'm being quite productive.  My first card is using the Deconstructed Sketch along with the Pear & Partridge papers from Close To My Heart:
Patterned papers are Pear & Partridge; Cardstock is Olive, Cashmere & Colonial White; Stamp set is Holiday Melodies; Inks are Olive & Cranberry - all Close To My Heart;

Second up is my November Sketch For You To Try card using the Merry & Bright papers from Carta Bella.  I used the Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut the pinwheel, since it cuts 1/2 at a time - which worked perfectly for the sketch:

Patterned papers and sticker are Merry & Bright, Carta Bella; Cardstock is Topiary, Heavenly Blue & White Daisy, CTMH; Stamp set is Perfect Fit - Holiday, CTMH; Ink is Heavenly Blue; Martha Stewart punch; Cricut Artiste cartridge, CTMH.

October Sketch For You To Try

Ten for ten!!  Yes, I am quite pleased with myself... that I've been able to play along with all ten montly SFYTT challenges.  This was quite an unusual sketch, but I saw how creative people were being with the little side panels, which made it come together a little more easily:

Patterned papers are Woodland Park, October Afternoon; Stamp sets are Words of Wisdom and Bloom & Grow, Verve; Inks are Black, Champagne & Garden Green, CTMH; Cardstock is Hollyhock & Colonial White, CTMH;  Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, CTMH;

August SFYTT for CASE Study

Well after just getting the July Sketch For You To Try done in the nick of time... I'm jumping right on the bandwagon for August and getting it done early!  I had my new Key Ingredients kit to work with, and since Verve is the SFYTT August sponsor, I pulled out some Verve goodies to make it all happen.  Now this week also marks the start of the CASE Study Challenge blog's 2nd Anniversary... and in addition to a great blog hop (check it out!) they asked us to show everyone our Signature Style.  I definitely like colour & patterns in my cards, with a fairly clean style, nothing too overly embellished.  But one thing that is definitely a trademark of mine, is to do several little "X" stitches using hemp or waxy flax - I can't tell you how many times I've added little x's to my cards - I just love the look of them?!  So here is my Aug SFYTT showing my signature little x's:

Patterned papers are Tea for Two, Cosmo Cricket; Cardstock is Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp sets are Words of Wisdom & Bloom & Grow, Verve; Floral Circles die, Verve; Inks are Rich Cocoa, Memento, Olive & Honey, CTMH; Natural hemp, CTMH; Cocoa button, CTMH.

July Sketch For You To Try

Just getting this one in under the wire!  I've managed to do all 7 of the SFYTT sketches for 2012 so far... and I started to panic a bit when we lost power and internet this afternoon during a wild thunderstorm.  So the second the internet came back, here I am getting my card posted!  I'm still trying to beef up my guy-card supply, so I pulled out my Marjolaine papers again:
Patterned papers are Marjolaine, Basic Grey; Cardstock is Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp set is You Are... CTMH; Inks are Kiwi & Twilight, CTMH and Rich Cocoa, Memento; Buttons, CTMH; Classy Oval Die, Verve.

Inspired By #20 & the April SFYTT

I'm so glad to be playing with the Inspired By challenge this week... I've taken a bit of a break from challenges lately to accomplish other commitments, so it's good to be back in the saddle again.  I was inspired by the globes in Laurel's photo this week... and pulled out my new Cruisin' papers to make a Father's Day card.  I've used the April Sketch For You To Try for my layout:
Here was our inspiration photo:
Patterned papers are Cruisin'; Cardstock is Black, Cranberry & White Daisy; Stamp set is Just Like You; Inks are Cranberry & Grey Flannel; Cranberry Waxy Flax; Pewter brads - all CTMH.  Spellbinder's Die.

March Sketch For You To Try

So far I'm 3 for 3... I've been able to participate in the Sketch For You To Try each month this year - hopefully I can keep it up :o)  I had fun distressing some of my Key Ingredients goodies for my card, and kept it fairly simple - I had a difficult time pulling this sketch together:

Patterned paper is My Mind's Eye, Rosy (Key Ingredients kit); Stamp set is Words of Wisdom, Verve; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Wooden buttons, CTMH;

Inspired By Challenge #11

When I saw Laurel's picture for this week's Inspired By challenge - I knew instantly what papers I'd be using... and when I scrolled down to see her creation, she'd used the same ones :o)   This is my second post for today - if you scroll down you'll see the card that I made immediately after finishing this one, and they couldn't be more different.  Love that.  Here's my Inspired By card for this week, using the February Sketch For You To Try:

Patterned papers are Happy Days, Echo Park; Cardstock is Black, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Stamp set is Carpe Cupcake, Verve; Pink buttons, CTMH; Baker's Twine, The Twinery; Spellbinder's Die.

Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT)

Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try is a monthly sketch challenge, so I'm going to try to play along all year... Today is my hubby's birthday, so I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to find the right "Happy Birthday" or some kind of a quote to put on my little yellow circle (longer than it took to put the whole card together).  How tough can it be?  Tough.  Even though I settled on this one, it may not last, so stay tuned for a possible update!
Here was our sketch:
Patterned papers are Good Times; Cardstock is Chocolate & Buttercup; Ink is Chocolate; Stamp set is Nursery Bash - all CTMH; Copic markers.

Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT)

I've been able to participate in the Sketch For You To Try challenges for November & December, and hope to do all 12 of them next year.  This is one of the first times that I've used my Copics to colour a card!  I'm fairly pleased with the result - practise makes perfect, so I plan to keep working at it on upcoming projects.  Here's what I came up with:
I added some clear buttons to my snowflakes, and sparkled them up a bit:
Patterned papers are Nordic Holiday, Basic Grey; Stamp set is Knit Happens, My Favorite Things; Ink is Memento Black; Copic Markers; Cardstock is Outdoor Denim & White Daisy, CTMH; Clear buttons, CTMH: Martha Stewart coarse glitter.

Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT)

This is a new sketch challenge for me!  Jen del Muro has a monthly challenge, called "Sketch For You To Try", and the talented ladies who participate are SO inspiring in what they create each month.  Check it out, and you won't be disappointed.  I used my Cosmo Cricket Odds & Ends mini deck (love these!), and a favourite Verve stamp set:
Patterned papers are Odds & Ends, Cosmo Cricket; Stamp set is Text Objects, Verve; Ink is Cocoa, CTMH; Cardstock is Colonial White, CTMH; Nature's Ambience Rub-ons, CTMH.
