Sketchbook Saturday #100 & Case Study #148

If you've never tried Sketchbook Saturday before... check it out here!  Iwona does fabulous sketches every second Saturday, and her blog is pretty fabulous, too - tons of inspiration.  I took this week's sketch fairly literally, and used the pretty butterfly card at CASE Study (also owned by Iwona!) and their pretty colour combo as my starting point.  This is a very CAS card for me!  No patterned paper or cardstock, and other than the butterfly & flower that I've cut out, it's a one layer card.
Here is our sketch:
And our CASE Study inspiration:
Stamp sets are In The Background, Card Word Puzzle & It's Your Day; Cardstock is White Daisy & Topiary; Inks are Black & Hollyhock - all Close To My Heart; Copic Markers; Meadow Leaf die, Memory Box.

CASE Study Challenge #139

I really loved this week's inspiration card by muse Maille Belles on the CASE Study Challenge blog, and thought it would make a great Mother's Day card.  I've used some vintage CTMH stamps & paper for this one:
Here was Maille's card:
Patterned papers are Key To My Heart; Stamp sets are Something Splendid & Say it in Style; Inks are Creme Brulee, Sorbet & Black.

August SFYTT for CASE Study

Well after just getting the July Sketch For You To Try done in the nick of time... I'm jumping right on the bandwagon for August and getting it done early!  I had my new Key Ingredients kit to work with, and since Verve is the SFYTT August sponsor, I pulled out some Verve goodies to make it all happen.  Now this week also marks the start of the CASE Study Challenge blog's 2nd Anniversary... and in addition to a great blog hop (check it out!) they asked us to show everyone our Signature Style.  I definitely like colour & patterns in my cards, with a fairly clean style, nothing too overly embellished.  But one thing that is definitely a trademark of mine, is to do several little "X" stitches using hemp or waxy flax - I can't tell you how many times I've added little x's to my cards - I just love the look of them?!  So here is my Aug SFYTT showing my signature little x's:

Patterned papers are Tea for Two, Cosmo Cricket; Cardstock is Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp sets are Words of Wisdom & Bloom & Grow, Verve; Floral Circles die, Verve; Inks are Rich Cocoa, Memento, Olive & Honey, CTMH; Natural hemp, CTMH; Cocoa button, CTMH.

Mother's Day card for CASE study

I've combined this week's Sketchbook Saturday sketch with the inspiration from the CASE study challenge to make a card for my Mother-in-law.  I loved the outline rose stamp on Agnieszka Malyszek's card, and thought they would work perfectly with the Card Word Puzzle stamp set.  I went with pretty colours:

Okay.  Now after colouring the images with my Copics, I knew that I didn't have perfectly matching pinks - my markers lean a bit more to the peachy side of things.  So I debated on flipping my background over to the creme brulee side... here's what it would've looked like.  I thought the green lost a bit of focus, even though the roses blended better, but I decided to stay with my pink background after all.  Thoughts?
Patterned papers are CTMH; Cardstock is Black, White Daisy and Sweet Leaf; Stamp sets are Card Word Puzzle & A Little Everything; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers.

CASE study Challenge #87

This month, the CASE Study Challenge blog is casing work by the talented Laurie Schmidlin, whose work is always so inspiring...  So I am glad to be able to play along!  I loved her wooden plank paper, and the strip across the middle of the card, so here's what I came up with:
Here was Laurie's card that we are casing:
Patterned papers are My Mind's Eye, Dolled Up; Cardstock is Crystal Blue, Hollyhock, Seafoam & Colonial White; Stamp set is Words of Wisdom, Verve; Ink is Rich Cocoa, Memento.  Ribbon & flower are from the April Key Ingredients Kit;  Martha Stewart Punch;  Verve dies.

Color Throwdown Challenge #166 & CASE Study Challenge #64

I haven't played the Color Throwdown Challenge in a few weeks, so I'm happy to have 2 cards to post for this week's challenge!  The colours immediately made me think of the Miracle paper pack from last spring, and I decided to use it to make a couple of soft & pretty sympathy cards for my stash.  I was inspired to play along with this week's CASE study challenge too, when I saw the pretty cut-out card made by this month's muse, Kryssi Ng (scroll down to see her card). Here's the first:
and here's a close up of my raised panel & cutout:
and another one:
Here is Kryssi's card:
Supplies for both cards: Stamp set is Blessings by Verve; Patterned paper is Miracle; Cardstock is Kraft, Colonial White & Crystal Blue; Ink is Desert Sand; Heavenly Blue Sassy Strands; Garden Green button & brads, paper flower & wooden button - all CTMH.

Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge #28 & CASE Study Challenge #30

I don't often combine more than one challenge, but this week's cute Waltzing Mouse Sketch seemed to work with what I had in mind for the CASE study challenge.  I really liked the combo of colours/design that I did for this week's Mojo sketch (my last post) - so I've gone with a similar theme... here's our sketch:
And this month at CASE, we're casing cards by the talented Julee Tilman, and this was our inpiration:

Here's what I've come up with:

Stamp set is Text Objects by Verve; Patterned papers are Wings; Cardstock is Juniper, Black, Vineyard Berry & Colonial White - all CTMH.

A Combined Grind Challenge!

This week, the Play Date Cafe has teamed up with the CASE Study Challenge blog for a "Combined Grind" challenge... we're using the PDCC#69 colours of red/green/black... with the inspiration of the CASE muse Eva Dobilas for our design:
So I pulled out the gorgeous Mistletoe papers from Making Memories, and used one of my new Verve stamps to make this:

Patterned papers are Making Memories, Mistletoe; Black cardstock & ink is CTMH; Twine is Martha Stewart; Stamp set is Text Objects from Verve; Nestabilities die. Here's a closeup of my flower:
