Crazy Birds!

I haven't pulled out my Tim Holtz Crazy Birds set in years... but The Papercrafter's Workshop is giving us prompts to use our supplies that we have, and when I pulled out this stamp set, I found 3 of the birds and a bunch of accessories coloured and fussy cut - ready to go.  One of the prompts was to use 5 different pieces of paper, so I pulled out my Lawn Fawn Really Plaid Rainbow papers (also many years old!) and got to work.

Another new thing is a sketch challenge on the Papercrafter's Inner Circle Facebook group page, so if you'll scroll down, you'll see the sketch that got everything rolling this week.  I used to do sketch challenges quite often, so it was fun to get back to doing something I enjoy, and I've ended up with a couple of cards for my efforts.

Crazy Birds Slimline

 This stamp set never gets old!!  I needed a masculine birthday card, had this background ready to go, and thought of the Tim Holtz Crazy Birds stamp set from a few years ago (five? eight?).  Those fun little birds look great coloured rainbow style, so I pulled out my Copics and got to work:

The background is Distress Oxide Inks blended on a Pinkfesh Studio stencil, and the die/sentiment are Photoplay's Say it With Stamps line.

I stamped off a whole bunch of the Crazy Birds while I had them out... so you'll be seeing a few more from me this summer.

Crazy Birds Valentines

Well, you may or may not know that I've always loved the Crazy Birds stamp set by Tim Holtz from a few years ago... I hadn't used it in a while, but have pulled it out several times recently to make masculine birthday cards.  Today I've made up a couple of masculine Valentine cards.  I have a nephew whose birthday I missed around Christmas, so he's getting a valentine from his aunt instead!

 After colouring with Copic markers, I fussy cut out the hearts (they are part of the Crazy Birds Accessories stamp set), used an x-acto knife to cut slits in the wings, and tucked the heart between them:

 I used the fun polka dot papers from Echo Park, enamel dots and sentiments from Close To My Heart.  Inside says simply "Happy Valentines Day".

Crazy Birds cards

I haven't had the fabulous Tim Holtz' Crazy Birds out for a while!  And I needed a whole stack of masculine cards for a bunch of November family birthdays, so I stamped and coloured up five of them with Copic markers in a rainbow style. 

 I pulled out the remnants of some Doodlebug and Echo Park papers that I've used with the birds in the past, and set about making five variations, depending on what paper pieces I was using.  I also grabbed the Crazy Birds Add-On set, which has the hats, bow tie and balloons.

I would've loved to have a few of these in my stash, but they're all making their way out the door asap, all over western Canada!  Links to the stamps are below if you're interested!

Graduation

It's been an exciting week in the Day household... by son graduated with an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University yesterday.  I'm a pretty proud Mom.  Now, if you follow my blog at all, you'll know that I like bright & fun cards... you won't find anything too deep or dignified.  So with that in mind, here is the graduation card that I made for Adam:

I was trolling through my stamp collection... and came across the Crazy Bird accessory stamps that include the scroll & mortarboard, so here's what I came up with!  This little guy is my favourite Crazy Bird, so I coloured him up with my Copic markers, then cut out around his wing and tucked the scroll underneath it.  Here's a photo of me & my graduate:

Crazy Birds for Father's Day

I've had the "accessory" set for the Crazy Birds for a little while now, but haven't used it... so when I set out to make a few Father's Day cards, I knew that there were a few male accessories that would fit the bill.  So here are a couple of cards that I made for my Dad & Husband:

 I used FDMD from Art Impressions for the sentiment, and for the second one, it says "Happy Father's Day" on the inside, and I popped the image up on pop dots:

My Dad will be turning 83 in November, and he has always been a big supporter of my little card making hobby - so I've made him a fun & bright birthday card using this week's Freshly Made Sketch and my favourite Crazy Birds:

I am happy to be playing along with The Challenge this week - I haven't been able to do many challenges over the past while, but with my children away at school now (sniff!)
