Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #300!

I was so happy that Michelle asked me to be a guest designer for the 300th challenge (wow!) for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog this week.  There are a whole bunch of guests joining the team this week, so I hope you'll join us and play along.  Here's what I've come up with:
Now, if you scroll down and take a peek at our sketch... you'll see that it has quite a lot going on.  My normal go-to is a bunch of coordinating patterned paper, but for some reason I decided to make it a mostly one-layer card, and I represented all of the shapes with stamps.  Once I picked which stamps I wanted to use, I decided to make it a rainbow effect.
I started by blending four colours of Distress Oxide inks lightly into the top and bottom corners, and then stamped over them with the polka dots in dye based inks.  I added the sketchy circles to represent the circles on the sketch, and sprinkled on a rainbow of sequins in lieu of the flowers.  I stamped the Hello sentiment inside the red circles, then matted it with black and adhered it to the base with pop dots.  I have a small arrow die, and almost adhered a little black one onto the card, but decided that with my rainbow colours, it was busy enough!
Stamp sets used: Better Together by Verve; Hello and Doodled Designs by Close To My Heart; Inks are Black Oxide by Versafine; Pear, Creme Brulee, Sunset, Tulip, Gypsy & Sapphire by Close To My Heart; Mowed Lawn, Honey, Wilted Violet & Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks by Ranger.  Black and White Daisy cardstock by Close To My Heart.

A 21st Birthday

My baby is 21 today, and she is one of my biggest card-making supporters!  Always willing to look at my work and give me suggestions or opinions.  When she was little, she was all about bright and happy colours, with a little sparkle thrown in.  So even though she's no longer wearing pink and purple every day... it's still what I reach for when it comes to making her cards.  And "Boo" is a nickname if you're wondering about the odd sentiment!
I had fun with some Distress Oxide ink blending, stamped the sentiment over top, and then coloured Boo and the flowers with some Wink of Stella to provide some shimmer.
Patterned papers are Lawn Fawn, Flowers are Moderne Flowers from Colourific, 'Boo' is Framework Alphabet and Hello Life - both CTMH.  Distress Oxide Inks are Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry & Wilted Violet. Hemstitched Oval dies are Spellbinders.

Nephew Birthday card

I have a nephew, brother-in-law and husband all with birthdays this week... so making a few masculine cards was the order of the day.  I pulled out the awesome Hello, Life stamp sets that Close To My Heart came out with for National Scrapbooking Month in September, and made three of these:
Patterned papers are Marjolaine, Basic Grey; Cardstock is Whisper & textured White Daisy, CTMH; Stamp sets are Hello, Life - CTMH: Inks are Whisper, Slate & Pacifica, CTMH; Matte silver sequins, CTMH; Stitched Oval STAX die, My Favorite Things.

Watercolour Birthday

I realized when it was my daughter's birthday earlier this week, that I hadn't shared the card that I made her, here on my blog.  I cut up a bunch of squares and rectangles of watercolour paper, pulled out my Distress Inks and started playing.  This was my favourite colour combo:
I love that you never quite know how colours are going to blend, or look together.  After the ink dried, I stamped overtop of it with black ink, popped the whole square panel up on pop dots, and added an arrow die cut.

Hopscotch Birthday

I have a masculine card to share today... with a whole whack of male relatives with birthdays over then next couple of months, I wanted to get a handle on my supply of cards, so I made up four of these:
I kept it fairly simple, used the Hopscotch papers & Hello-Life stamp sets from Close To My Heart along with three matching Creative Basics cardstocks (they have a tone-on-tone glossy pattern on them that you can barely see in the photo).  Then I die cut the Spellbinder's Feathers in three colours of cardstock and tied them with a bit of waxy flax.  I popped up the sentiment circle and tucked the feathers in behind it.
