Market Place Tags

In prepping my end of the year post, I realized that I hadn't posted the Christmas tags that I created to gift with the tri-fold cards that I made using the Market Place suite of products from The Greetery.  

Yes, I managed to get 18 of these little guys made!  I used the tri-fold card as my inspiration, sticking to a limited colour palette, and cut multiple pieces out at a time - it looks a little more daunting than it actually was.  Once you embrace the chaos of doing a project with a ton of tiny pieces, it goes pretty quickly.

This is the Market Place Mini die set, along with the Holiday Festoons set - that provided all of the wreaths, bows and swag details.  I made them into tags by backing them with a solid cream building, then glued another one to it like a hinge, so you can open up the house and write your Christmas greeting.  I punched holes through the top and threaded some jute twine through.

The finishing touch was to spatter some gold paint to go with the touches of gold on each tag.  Labour of love, and SO worth it!  Everyone raved about these.

Twinkle Tidings Tags

 My third project with the October Betterpress Society plate, 'Twinkle Tidings' was a couple of tags. 

I followed along with Erin from Spellbinders Socie-Tea tutorial, where she painted a glow effect around each bulb, and knew that my Moonbeam Shimmer paints from Crafter's Companion would work beautifully for the effect.  I used a pretty pink/purple/blue/green/gold colourway.

I used some older Studio Katia tag dies to die cut them, backing with plain white tags so that the gift giver can sign the back.  I added the word 'merry' in some metallic blue and green cardstock, and a small Lawn Fawn tag to each as well.

Gingerbread tags

These were my second effort at using the Mini Market Place dies from The Greetery.  I once again made them into tags, this time with a gingerbread theme, inspired by Wanda Guess.

These were easier than my last batch of tags, as all the bases were cut from kraft cardstock, and all the bits were cut from white - quicker die cutting, and easy assembly.

The wreaths and bows are from the Market Place Holiday Festoons die set.  Once everything was assembled, I spattered some white paint, then added a white backing to make them into tags.

Shaker Tags

I give out Christmas tags in my family's Christmas cards, and wanted to do a few special ones this year.  I picked the most labour intensive tags that I could (ha!) - shakers.

This is the How You Bean? stamp and die set from Lawn Fawn that I've had for a few years.  They've come out with several 'add on' sets, so this is the Christmas Cookies one, and the Mint one, created with the Shaker Add On set.

The mint ones were stamped with Pinkfresh Studio Berrylicious ink, and a few diecut bits of holly were added to the corner.  I used an ornament topper from another set to diecut the little hanger piece.  I cut a plain green jar shape, and created a second tag that will go behind - for the person to write on.  That way the shaker can be reused another year, simply by switching out the tag in behind.

The cookie ones were stamped in Memento ink and coloured with Copic markers.  Not my best colouring, as I used inexpensive paper (they're just tags), but they still turned out pretty cute.

Christmas Whimsy Tags

My third project with the July Betterpress Society plate, 'Christmas Whimsy Ornaments' was the perfect thing to use for Christmas tags.  

    

I pressed the plate in Memento Tuxedo Black, and coloured up the ornaments with Copic markers that matched scrap pieces of Christmas paper in my stash (Echo Park!), then cut them out with the coordinating die.

I cut a bunch of die cut pieces out of coordinating cardstock, using the Holiday Blooms die set from Spellbinders.

I put together a few different tag designs, then added some metallic silver thread and a few rhinestones to add some sparkle.  I will add some plain white tags behind these where people can write their 'to & from', and then can switch those out and reuse them a time or two.

Shine Bright

 I have been struggling to get into Christmas cards this year... but seemed to break through my block by creating a bunch of bold rainbow themed Christmas projects today!  I was inspired by the Shine Bright stamp set from Pigment Craft Co., and knew that I had the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Christmas paper pack from a few years ago...

I used Festive Berries, Wild Honey, Mowed Lawn, Broken China and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide inks, applied directly to my stamps with sponge dawbers and the help of my Misti.  I got an assembly line going and created panels for four cards.

I loved the look so much, that I die cut six tags with the Ai tag die, and stamped the same design.  My Glossy Accents was a little thick, but if I can get it flowing again, I may add it to the lights.

Before assembling my cards, I cut tag bases out of the coloured paper, and used the Snowflake and Quirky Owl Ephemera packs from Simply Stated Design (they're Canadian!) to put together four smaller tags.  I used my Lawn Fawn Tiny Christmas Tags for a small accent, and stamped them with holiday sayings.

Winter Sprigs Tags

And another project using the July Betterpress Society plate, "Winter Sprigs Tree".  Natalie Murdock posted cute little tree tags, so I created my own versions:

I pressed the tree onto Canson XL watercolour paper using black Betterpress ink, then die cut it plus a second die cut in cream cardstock.  

I scored near the top of the second piece, then glued the top portion of it, onto the coloured tree piece.  I added a little Baker's twine to the top so that I can attach them to a parcel or a bottle of wine for the holiday.

Merry Stitchmas

 I loved the Spellbinder's Advent calendar that they brought out last year, and when I saw that they'd created a Merry Stitchmas calendar this year, I thought it would be a great time to try stitching on some holiday projects.  I give away a lot of Christmas tags to friends and family with my holiday cards, so I knew this was the thing for me!

                                 

When I was first test cutting out all the dies, I somehow started with this funky colour combo, and just went with it - creating a coordinating set of tags in this teal/pink/kiwi colourway.

I learned pretty quickly that I loved how the metallic gold thread looked, and decided to go with just a single strand.

The ugly Christmas sweaters are one of my favourites in the collection!

I've got a few more of these in the works (I've got 72 tags assembled!), so will do another post soon.

Striped Tags

 Here is the tag version of the cards I posted a few days ago...  When I cut my 3/8" strips of cardstock, they each made two cards, with a few inches left over.  Not wanting to waste my pretty stripes, I glued them onto some white tags that I diecut with a Studio Katia Dotted Tag die, added my glittery snowflakes, and used the Pinkfresh Studio Perfect Sentiments to finish them off.

I am entering the December challenge on the Pinkfresh Studio blog!  The theme is anything to do with the Holidays. 

Quick tags

 Quick only in that I had already coloured up these images!  So a few cranks of my die cutting machine to cut out all the pieces, and I just fussy cut the images and glued them down.  All images are Art Impressions!

Shaker tags

 These were so fun to make, but definitely take a little extra time to put together.  I've been wanting to get some shaker tags made up for gifts, and had these little penguins from Sugar Pea Designs coloured up and ready to add to my tags.  After die cutting all my pieces, I created the shaker pocket by cutting a rectangle to glue behind, added some foam adhesive strips, and a piece of acetate - then glued it all under the opening in my tag, after adding an assortment of glitter and sprinkles.

Tags are Studio Katia, and the Sentiment is from Art Impressions.

Tags 2.0

Same design, new papers.  I made a PILE of these sweet, skinny tags this weekend (I should really show the underside - they all say To/From...), so I got 16 more of them made up with some papers that work with the limey green cardstock I stamped on.
