Holiday Mansion

I pulled out a retired Art Impressions set that I had previously stamped to do a little colouring while I watched a video or two... this is the Holiday Mansion with the Garden Set add-on.

It was stamped on Cryogen cardstock which has a creamy cast to it, so I paired it up with some old Carta Bella papers from my stash, and set about colouring the pieces with my Copic markers.  There are matching dies that cut out the windows, doors and small items as well.

I made my background scene with the patterned papers - I love this look!  And it's a great way to use up patterned paper.  It's a little larger than an A2 size, being 4 5/8" x 6".

HSN cards for Art Impressions

I was lucky enough to have a couple of my cards shown on the Home Shopping Network this week!  Art Impressions had several features on air on Tuesday, and I made a couple of cards featuring the 4926 Holiday Mansion stamp set, and the Garden Add-On:
For my first card, I did a little paper piecing, stamping the house on some subtly patterned soft pink paper.  I stamped it again on some white cardstock, then coloured & cut out the roof and details before gluing them on.  I kept my colour palette fairly limited, to coordinate with the background paper.
A closeup of the main image that I raised on pop dots over the oval mat.  I made the birds into robins!  Each of those little images come as a stamp, and there is a tiny die to cut out each one.  The house comes with dies that cut out the windows, shutters, and doors, so you can peek different images out of or behind each area.
My sunrise card was an idea that I had immediately when I knew I was using the Garden Add-on set (you buy the mansion stamp, and can add on Christmas/Easter/Halloween/Bday sets to change it up!)  I couldn't get ahold of a sunburst stencil or die for my quick turnaround, so I made my own stencil - scroll down and you'll see what I came up with.  It only took a few minutes to create with a ruler & exacto knife, then I used Distress Oxide inks to create the rays on my cardstock.  I cut the circle of the sun and the hillside using some stitched dies & patterned paper, and cut the clouds out of some fun paper as well.  This time I snuck the sentiment inside the door, so you can see it when you open it up.
Lot's of work, but so worth it - these were such fun to make!  You can see all of the Holiday Mansion collection HERE on the Ai website. Here is the creation of my sunburst:

Happy stamping!

Ai Holiday Mansion

Have you seen the fabulous Holiday Mansion Set (Sku #4926) that Art Impressions released this summer??  It is the most brilliant idea to have a sweet little house that comes with shutters and a full set of dies to cut out the window panes, and two doors on hinges:
How cute is that??  The other brilliant part of this set... is that there is a companion set of stamps & dies called HM Accessory Set (Sku #4927).  If you notice the tree, wreath, bells, reindeer & Santa - these are part of the accessory set, each designed to peek out from between or behind the windows and doors.
After stamping and colouring with Copic markers, I positioned all the dies on both the house and all the accessories.  One quick pass through my Cuttlebug, and everything was cut out and ready to assemble.  I added some Stickles to sparkle up the snow a little, and added some sparkle to the background as well.  The sign was created by cutting it out from a piece of patterned paper.  Here is one of the sentiments that comes with the set that I added to the inside:
Now - what I haven't mentioned yet, is that these are only 1/2 of the accessories that come in the set - a whole set of Halloween images (ghosts, pumpkins, boarded up windows, monsters) mean that you can colour the mansion completely differently to make a spooky haunted house.  I love when you can get an entirely different look from the same stamp set.  Head on over to the Ai website to pick up your own Holiday Mansion!
