Owls

We have friends who have a granddaughter who is not quite two... that has a thing for owls!  How cute.  She mentioned that she had sent her an owl card in the mail, so I knew that I'd be diving into my craft supplies to find some images from Art Impressions that I'd stamped out years ago.  Anyone remember the Whoots?  I have two cards using the larger Whoot stamps (done in strong bright colours!), and I had one of the tiny Front & Back owls stamped out for my third card.

The Front & Backs work best with a cutout, and they're so small that you really need to create a scene around them.  I pulled out some dies to add a branch and a bunch of leaves in patterned paper.  Since it was showing through to the inside, I added a bunch there as well.

Such a fun project!

A Mini Monkey

I made a card for my sweet great nephew who is turning two today!  I thought this mini monkey from Art Impressions would make the perfect card.  I paired him with some bright Basic Grey papers that I've had for a while, and made a circle cutout, as he is a Front & Back style of stamp, so the backview of him can be seen from the inside.

Winter Wonderland Challenge

The current challenge on the Art Impressions blog is Winter Wonderland!  We want to see your winter themed cards.  I am using half of the Snowman & Penguin Set (Sku #4508) - one of the sweet Ai Mini Front & Back sets:
For this one, I cut a large oval on my Cricut, cut it in half and hand drew on the igloo details.
This one has a hand drawn igloo, that I cut out and drew in the ice blocks.  Head on over to the Ai blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has to share today - Happy Stamping!
Copics used : C7, C5, C3, C1, C00, G46, G43, G41, YR16, B95, B93, B91, B00, B000, B0000

Mini Reindeer

I am posting on the Art Impressions blog today!
I've had something similar to this card in mind for a while, but using the owl minis... (so stay tuned, you may see a non-holiday version of this in the future!).  But I loved the idea of using the Reindeer mini front & back stamps  (Sku #4507) for this one:
This is a long & skinny card!  3" x 6";  I cut my opening, and added a green frame to it, then glued my five reindeer on either side, leaving Rudolph facing front.  I added some Wink of Stella to his nose & the bells on their collars, for a little glimmer.  I kept my design pretty simple, as I wanted all the focus on the reindeer.
I added the "Jingle all the Way" sentiment from Jingle Set (Sku #4681) towards the bottom of the inside, so that it wouldn't show when the card was closed:

 Happy stamping!

Reds - R24, R22, R20

Elephant & Pig Minis!

My love affair with the Art Impressions Mini Front & Backs continues... today I have four cards using the Elephant & Pig Set (Sku #4505):

Sorry for the hand held photos - but these photograph the best when they are held shut!  I used several scalloped and circular dies to cut my window, and then placed my little critters into the bottom half of the opening.  I stamped the sentiments over their heads so that it would show whether the card is open or closed.  Here are a couple of inside views:

There are all kinds of Minis available through the Art Impressions website - you can find them here.  Happy stamping!

Toadaly Cool

I am posting on the Art Impressions blog today!
A few months ago, I did a card using the little crab from the Frog & Crab Mini Set (Sku #4406)... and I had an idea for how I could use the little frog that comes in the set, which I have finally made come to life!
I wanted to make a bunch of the little guys, and have it look like they were hopping onto a lily pad... so I hand cut an oval shape with a notch cut into it - and by putting some green paper on the inside of the card, the negative die cut became my lily pad (I know, some of my cards can be a bit of a stretch!!).  It's a little easier to see what I was going for when the card is shut:
I love that when you open up the card, a couple of the frogs are peeking in, too.
To make assembling my card even easier - I've used the Frog & Crab Mini Dies (Sku #4539) to cut out all of the little pieces.  Check out all of the Mini Front & Backs in the Art Impressions store - you can find them all here!  Happy stamping everyone!
