Bunny Blossoms

I've had such fun making spring cards with the latest High Hopes release - they're such sweet images to colour!  I am sharing Bunny Blossoms TT114 coloured in Copic Markers, with Some Bunny Loves You HH055.

After stamping the sentiment, I coloured the border in with coordinating markers used in my image, then fussy cut around the edge, and adhering it with pop dots.  I've used a strip of the pretty Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Rainbow papers, and the pink watercolour look background paper is from the Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes pack.  The gumdrops are from Your Next Stamp.  Click on my links and you'll find everything in the OCS store - happy stamping!

Tuesday Threads with Karen - Sleep Mask!

I've been sewing again... this month, I'm sharing a sleep mask!  And of course, I knew that Art Impressions had this wonderful image in the Pamper Yourself set (AiCS31)... so I made a matching card.
I adore quick and easy gift projects, and this one is no exception, the whole thing came together in under an hour.  I'm using the Art Impressions Shop Hop fabrics designed by Bonnie Krebs, available through Henry Glass Co.
I started with a sheet of paper folded in half, sketched out what I wanted the mask to look like, then added a 1/4" seam allowance to make my pattern.  I picked two of the patterns from the fabric collection, and cut out the mask shape.  I cut a piece of Therm O Web's Heat n Bond Fusible Fleece just a little larger.
I pinned a length of eyelet lace around the mask, so that it would get sandwiched between the layers when I sewed them all together.  I cut a piece of 1/4" elastic long enough to fit around my head when it's attached to the mask, cut a piece of pink seam binding about 6" longer, and threaded the elastic through it to form the strap.
I left a 2" opening when I sewed the front and back together, to be able to turn it inside out, and then slip stitched it shut with a needle & thread.  And there you have it!  Here is what the reverse looks like (the mask is reversible!):
And here is a closer look at my card:
I hope you have time to do a little sewing, and if you do - try making a sleep mask!

Make It Mini

There is a challenge going on over on the Art Impessions blog "Make It Mini" - and the Ai Design Team are all sharing the new Mini Try-Fold images that are now available on the Ai website.  I am sharing Homemade Happiness MTF (Sku #4854):
My card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/2".  I started with a cream cardstock panel that is 4" x 11", and scored it into thirds.  The MTF sets include an image for each panel, plus two coordinating dies that allow you to peek all the way into the middle of the card.  Here's what it looks like with the three panels shut, and the doors of the cabinet pulled open:
And here is the second panel where you can really see into the inside of the card.  I had these cute baking die cuts to add here:
And finally the inside of the card, with the sweet little mouse asleep in the measuring cup.  I always line the backside of each panel with patterned paper, that covers up where the Copic markers have bled through, so I used these great papers that tied in with the baking theme.  I used the Heart Clasp Die (Sku #4747) to make a belly band that holds the card together.  I flipped it around so that the heart clasp is in the back of the card, and I added a little die cut to the front that shows off another of the images and sentiments that come with the set.
We hope you'll play along with our challenge over on the Ai blog, there are always fabulous prizes to be won!  Happy stamping.
Copics used - greens: BG78, BG75, BG72, BG70
reds: R37, R35, R32, R30
browns: E57, E55, E53, E51, E50
pinks: R85, R83, R81

Rustic Watercolour

I'm combining old & new Ai watercolor sets today.  When I saw the cowboy boot in the WC Rustic Container Set (Sku #4871), I knew that I wanted to pair it with Southwest (Sku #4763).  I ended up just using the rocks from Southwest... but I'll be revisiting the boot with the cacti at a later date.  What I did add, was a sprinkling of wildflowers using WC Flower Set 2 (Sku #4868) the tiniest foliage from WC Foliage Set 2 New (Sku #4867), and the grass from Foliage Set (Sku #4051):
I started by stamping the boot, masked it - then added the rocks and flowers.  I used my damp #6 Art Impressions paintbrush to soften the lines and pull out the colour.  I scribbled my markers onto my palette, and then picked up the colour with my paintbrush to add a little more depth to the boot and to colour in the sky.  I "almost" sketched in some mountains in the background... but chickened out!  Sometimes you just need to leave well enough alone :o)
Check out the range of watercolour sets available on the Art Impressions website here.  Happy Painting!

Inspired By All The Little Things #52

It's April showers time (oh, did we have a downpour today!) so I've picked a very apropo photo as the inspiration for Inspired By All the Little Things this week.  I am the hostess for this week's challenge, and I have invited my Ai Design teammate Renee Matarese to be my Guest Designer!  Renee does such amazing, unique cards, always thinking outside the box, and she has a real flair for masculine cards, too!  Here is this week's photo that we worked from:
Back in my clothing designer days, I lived in New York for a few years - so I loved this photo, with her glam raincoat & boots, and the rainy NY skyline behind her.  My inclination was to do something with a bit of a chic flavour to it... but when I really looked at the photo, I got kind of fixated on the taxi behind her!  I knew that I had this great taxi-printed paper, and decided to do something a little more fun & lighthearted.  Plus, my son graduated from University this week and has headed off to Europe to travel, and I felt like making more of a motivational card.  So here's what I came up with:

Willow

I hope you're all enjoying the newest High Hopes release as much as I am!  I was totally inspired by these pretty new Lawn Fawn plaid papers that I found in the One Crazy Stamper store - and coloured sweet Willow TT122 to match:
The sentiment is Life in Bloom GG021, also from High Hopes.
Copics used - E11, E00, E000, R20, R85, R83, R81, BG15, BG13, BG11, YG03, YG01, B23, B21, Y26, Y23, Y21, E50.

Watercolour Bunnies

The new 2017 WC Bunnies Set (Sku #4874) is such a great new addition to the Ai Watercolor collection!  I love being able to add a few animals in with the foliage:
I stamped the stump from WC Rustic Container Set first, then masked it and stamped my bunnies and the foliage around it.  The flowers are from Wooden Chair Mini Set (Sku #4876); the small greenery is from WC Foliage Ste 2 New (Sku #4867) and the grass is from Foliage Set (Sku #4051).  I drew in the flower stems myself.  After stamping, I used my damp #6 Art Impressions paintbrush to soften the lines, and pull out the colour.  I painted in a soft sky, and then using the leftover paint on my palette - I spattered it lightly all over the image.
On the inside I stamped "Celebrate Spring" from the Celebrate Spring MTF set (Sku #4849).  This would also make a great Easter card. I used Marvy Markers on some smooth watercolour paper for my project.  Happy painting!
