Trio of Tulips & Daffodils

I kind of went to town this week using the new Tulips and Daffodils press & foil plate from Yana Smakula for Spellbinders.  I made 3 cards, all with a very similar colour palette in three different ways.

My first card was foiled on some gingham printed Hammermill paper from Art Impressions, using Rose Gold foil.  This worked so beautifully!  I'm still pretty new to foiling, so when it works out this well, I'm just speechless.  I've really been wanting to try using the Ai papers, as I thought they'd be perfect for foiling.  The sentiment is from the Bouquet of Sentiments set, and I struggled to get this one to foil well.

Second card - just pressed with Betterpress black ink on regular cardstock.  Again, great image - and I coloured it with stencils/ink.  I added a little light blue ink in and around the flowers, probably wouldn't do this again, but it kept the background from looking too stark.  I cut it out with my Essential Arches dies, and matted it on some Ai patterned paper.  The sentiment was foiled in gold on the patterned melon coloured paper.

My third card was a bit of an experiment.  I wanted to press on some yellow cardstock, and do just a pale ink blend on the blooms.  I used Betterpress Saffron ink to press the image off center, and just lightly stenciled in the ink.  I used the Serenade Sentiments dies cut in metallic gold, and stacked with a second layer to add my sentiment across the bottom.

For someone who isn't a huge yellow fan, I've certainly been reaching for it lately!  But hey, daffodils...  Stay tuned, I may try some of the 'fantasy' coloured blooms that I've been seeing others do.  This collection will be available soon on the Papercrafter's Workshop site.

Foiled Tulips & Daffodils

Today I'm sharing the foiled version of Yana's Tulips and Daffodils press & foil plate.

I used gold foil on Hammermill white cardstock, and it pressed so beautifully!

I used the coordinating stencils and Pinkfresh Studio inks to add in the colours, using a fine brush to add the peach tones to the daffodil centers.  I foiled a sentiment from the Friendship Grows press & foil set, and attached it with 3D foam adhesive.

These will be available soon on the Papercrafter's Workshop site.

Yana's Tulips and Daffodils

Oh my!  This is one of the prettiest plates that I've played with in a while - Yana Smakula's Tulips and Daffodils.

I pressed it with Betterpress Black ink onto a Porcelain Cotton Card panel, then used Pinkfresh Studio inks with the coordinating stencils to add the colour.

I went in with a tiny brush to add extra shading to the daffodil centers.  The sentiment is from the Bouquet of Sentiments set in the same collection - die cut and popped up with 3D foam adhesive.

The collection will be available soon on The Papercrafter's Workshop website.

Retro Suitcase

I'm starting to feel like a luggage designer!  (A tiny little luggage designer...)  This is the Retro Suitcase and Sentiments set from the We All Have Baggage collection designed by Sheri Ballantyne for Spellbinders.

I started by picking out my patterned papers - this is the 5955 - Encouragement Paper Pack from Art Impressions.  So fun to mix and match the coordinating patterns, and I added some metallic silver accents.

The sentiment is from the Keep Calm Sentiments set, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  I used a fern die from Memory Box to add some greenery behind the suitcase, then popped it up on 3D foam adhesive.

The collection will be available through Spellbinders later this spring, but is available right now on the Papercrafter's Workshop website.

Glimmery Thought You Knew

I'm still making cards with the 'Thought You Knew' press plate from Spellbinders - available exclusively to Crafter's Home stores.

I started by doing an ombre watercolour with Salty Ocean and Scattered Straw Distress inks, then searched through my stash to find something to coordinate.  I've had these 'Bohemian Bazaar' papers from Graphic 45 for years, so created a quick pieced background.

I like painting the 3D edges of the letters, as it makes the words stand out so well, so I used some metallic gold paint and a very fine brush to paint them in.  I attached it to my base with 3D foam adhesive, and added some champagne pearls.

You can find the plate at The Papercrafter's Workshop.

Thought You Knew/Craft Around

For those of you who attended the Craft Around event this past weekend with The Papercrafter's Workshop, it was a great day!  I taught one of the classes, showcasing the Betterpress with the Thought You Knew plate, and the A Banner Celebration dies.

At the event, attendees just made the green gingham card.

Everyone also practised doing an ombre watercolour effect, painting with Distress Inks.

This was a bonus card that I made for display.  Five cards were made by everyone, using a range of products from different companies.  If you're in the Greater Toronto Area, and are interested in attending - The Papercrafter's Workshop hold two of these each year.  Sign up for their emails!

Keep Calm and Craft On

Nothing like a little crafting to keep yourself calm!  I am using products from the 'We All Have Baggage' line by Sheri Ballantyne for Spellbinders.

This is the Rolling Craft Tote die, along with the Keep Calm Sentiments.  The patterned paper was from my stash - more than a few years old!  I love being able to use it up.  I grabbed some cardstock that matched it, and set about assembling it while I watched a crafting video.  Took less than an hour, including clean up time!

Spellbinders will be releasing the collection in April/May, but you can buy it right now on the Papercrafter's Workshop website (below).

A Banner Celebration

I made a set of four cards using the 'They Say it's Your Birthday' papers from Carta Bella, and the great 'A Banner Celebration' die set from Spellbinders.

The candle and balloon papers work so perfectly with this die set!  And their flip sides are the great green and blue patterns.  I mixed and matched them all along with a few dies from my stash.  First up, is a horizontal card where I wanted to show off the great candle paper:

Then I made a shaker!  There are a bunch of silver discs under the acetate, and I made it a shaped shaker using the Essential Arches die:

With the arched cut out, I used it as a base after fussy cutting out a bunch of the candle boxes:

And finally, I had to show off the pretty balloon paper.  I kept it fairly simple, just used my postage rectangle die to frame the sentiment, then added a few candles and balloons.

All supplies are available at The Papercrafter's Workshop.  They ship!

Awareness Ribbon

My final card from the card set I made using the new We All Have Baggage collection designed by Sheri Ballantyne for Spellbinders, features the Awareness Ribbon and Sentiments set.

The set includes 3 dies to cut the ribbon, allowing you to use different colours to create some depth, and two inserts with 'Hope' and 'Strength' pressed on the ribbons as options.

Look at all those sentiments!

I used some ancient CTMH paper as my card base, then die cut the citron colour and white cardstock arches using the Essential Arches dies.  The flowers are all from the Delicious Desserts die set.

The collection won't be available on the Spellbinders site until April/May, but it can be purchased immediately on the Papercrafter's Workshop website.

Rolling Craft Tote

My third card with the new We All Have Baggage collection designed by Sheri Ballantyne for Spellbinders, uses the fun Rolling Craft Tote die.

Such an amazing die set!  The details are wonderful, and it's ingeniously designed to make assembly really easy.

This is part of a card set, so I used the two greens from Concord & 9th to cut out the tote, along with black and Treasured Gold cardstock for the details.  The patterned paper is ancient CTMH.

I cut the Hemstitched Ovals die from white cardstock, and used the Delicious Desserts dies to cut out the flowers.  The sentiment is from the Retro Suitcase and Sentiments set.

The collection is not available from Spellbinders until April/May, but can be purchased immediately from the Papercrafter's Workshop website.

Friends Help Friends

My second card with the We All Have Baggage collection by Sheri Ballantyne for Spellbinders, features the Retro Suitcase and Sentiments set.

I think this little suitcase is my favourite of the collection.  The tiny details make this so much fun to assemble.  Since I chose a floral pattern for my case, I didn't add any of the cute sticker designs that are included in the stamp set (stay tuned for next time!).

I used the Hemstitched Rectangles dies to cut out some white cardstock, with the citron shade underneath.  The sentiment is one of five included in the set.  I used the Delicious Desserts dies to cut the flower.

The collection will be available from Spellbinders in April/May, but can be ordered immediately from the Papercrafter's Workshop website.
