Every Diva needs a cake

Seeing as my daughter Paige is a cake & cupcake baker/decorator... I needed to pull out my A-game today for her birthday cake.  I'm going to be generous and give myself a B- (smile).  I had fun doing it, but the execution was messy to say the least.  You may have seen these rosette cakes on Pinterest, or in a You Tube how-to video, where they take about a minute and a half to do a whole cake?  Well, it actually does go pretty quickly, but my icing started getting a bit too warm (white chocolate buttercream!) and I literally had icing up to my elbows, and had to refridgerate it several times.  Anyway, if you stand back about 5 feet it looks quite impressive... just don't sneak up close to see my shaky roses!

A Cupcake Diva birthday

If you follow my blog, you'll know that my daughter has a little cupcake business... well, my Cupcake Diva turns 15 tomorrow, so when I saw Laurel's gorgeous pastel pink inspiration photo on Inspired By - it got me thinking pink & girly for her card.  I've seen a few versions of this on the internet, and wanted to make a little cupcake store window, complete with striped awning.
Patterned papers are Hello Summer, Echo Park; Bazzil cardstock; Stamp set is The Sweetest Thing; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic markers; Verve dies.

A Halloween Door Hanger

I don't send out any Halloween cards, but I do like to decorate the house for the occasion, so for this week's Heart2Heart challenge (Halloween/pumpkins) and the colour challenge at Dynamic Duos (pumpkin pie/basic black with a dessert option of die cuts)... I came up with a cute little door hanger using the Artiste cartridge:
I grunged it up a little by sponging slate ink around all the pieces, and distressed the edges of the face a little.  Cute, quick and easy to make :o)
Patterned paper is Dotty For You; Cardstock is White Daisy & Black; Ink is Slate; Cricut Artiste cartridge - all CTMH; Ribbon, Fabricland.

October Sketch For You To Try

Ten for ten!!  Yes, I am quite pleased with myself... that I've been able to play along with all ten montly SFYTT challenges.  This was quite an unusual sketch, but I saw how creative people were being with the little side panels, which made it come together a little more easily:

Patterned papers are Woodland Park, October Afternoon; Stamp sets are Words of Wisdom and Bloom & Grow, Verve; Inks are Black, Champagne & Garden Green, CTMH; Cardstock is Hollyhock & Colonial White, CTMH;  Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, CTMH;

Properly Caffeinated

Don't you just love this sentiment?  I have a love for all kinds of coffee cards, so of course I couldn't pass this one up when I saw it.  I also don't tend to do "wacky" with my cards, but there's just something about these Art Impressions stamps that cracks me up!  I haven't played along with Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge in a little while, so my little jumping coffee-drinker seemed to work with her current sketch:
Patterned papers are Woodland Park, October Afternoon; Stamps are Millie & Caffeinated by Art Impressions; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers - all from One Crazy Stamper; Clear buttons are CTMH.

Sketchbook Saturday and a Tea Light Cake

I used this week's Sketchbook Saturday sketch for a simple fall card using this week's Dynamic Duo colour combo.  While I had the papers on my desk, I decided to make a tiny matching birthday cake using a battery operated tea light.  If you're a Pinterest regular, you may have seen the idea floating around recently - and when I saw a package of the little lights at Costco, I had to give it a try.  It only took a short while to make, and will definitely make my girlfriend smile when I give it to her :o)

Patterned papers are Lucky & Dotty For You; Cardstock is Kraft & Colonial White; Ink is Desert Sand; Stampset is Say It in Style; Cricut Artiste cartridge; Sunset Baker's Twine, ribbon and Button - all supplies are CTMH.

Freshly Made Sketches #56

I tipped this week's Freshly Made Sketch over on it's side for my card this week.  I've wanted to use this little moustache die cut as a cupcake pick for a while, and I knew that I had the perfect papers to make a matching card:

Patterned papers are This & That, Echo Park; Cardstock is Kraft, Colonial White & Black, CTMH; Stamp set is A Little Everything, CTMH; Ink is Black, CTMH; Cupcake wrapper & pick, Cricut Artiste cartridge.

A Pear & Partridge Box

I've finally decided to enter the 3D item world with this cute little box that I cut with my Cricut Artiste cartridge.  The box itself only took a couple of minutes to assemble, and then I rolled a couple of spiral flowers and added a bit of ribbon to pretty it up a little:
Patterned papers are Pear & Partridge; Cardstock is Smoothie, Cranberry & Olive; Olive Organdy Ribbon; Mocha Opaque Pearls; Cricut Artiste cartridge - all CTMH.

Mojo Monday #261

I have been wanting to try out this little hot air balloon from the Cricut Artiste cartridge, so I used it for this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I popped up the balloon and one of the clouds for a little dimension, and softened all the edges with a little sponging in Desert Sand:
Patterned papers are Elemental & Lucy; Cardstock is Kraft, Sorbet, Indian Corn Blue & Colonial White; Ink is Desert Sand; Stamp set is Find Your Style; Sorbet Baker's Twine; Cricut Artiste cartridge - all CTMH.

Get Your Party On!

"Get your PARTY on!" is the sentiment inside this fun card that I made for my girlfriend's 50th birthday.  Four of us have hung around together since our kids were in Jr. Kindergarten, and they're all now in high school - so when I saw this stamp set, I knew I'd use it over and over.  It gave my Copic skills a good workout, too.  With all the bright colours, I kept my background really plain:
Stamp set is Uptown Girls, by Art Impressions; Cardstock is Lagoon, Black and White Daisy, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic markers.
