Ai Foundations Chairs

 I'm sharing a slimline card today that will be on the Art Impressions blog on Saturday, using the 5432 - WC Foundations Chairs set:

This is the perfect stamp for a slimline or even a mini-slimline card.  I began by colouring up the stamp in #969 Chocolate/#565 Deep Blue and stamped it using my Misti - this worked really well for such a large image, as I was able to give it even pressure, and if I'd missed a spot, I could've gone over it a second time.  I placed the image slightly right of center, as I planned to add the sentiment and a pumpkin to the left side of the card.  *I purposefully left the lower corner of the bench uncoloured when I stamped, as that left me enough room to stamp the pumpkin from 5426 - WC Veggies just in front of it.  I used my stamp positioner to place it, as well as the possum from 5425 - WC Peeking Animals in one of the pots.  I partially painted the three chairs in #346 Sea Green, #606 Violet and #443 Turquoise which helped me know how to place my flowers and foliage in the pots by balancing out where the colours would be.  I used the Daisy Bunch from Flower Set - 4052 in #993 Chrome Orange, the small dots from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set in #443, and the vines and grasses from 5126 - WC Foliage Set 4 in #249 Hunter Green.  To brighten things up and fill in any gaps, I used the tiny sprig from set 5009 in #126 Light Olive. 

I finished painting in the 3 chairs, and added several shades of #969 to the bench.  Pots were painted in #947 Burnt Sienna, #N55 Cool Grey 7 and #228 Gray Green.  To finish off, the spiky flowers from 5258 - WC Flower Set were added in #606, and the branch from 4964 - WC Branches set was added to two pots.  Shadows were added with #565, and the background was done in a wash of #228.  The pumpkin was painted with layers of #993/933/947.  The sentiment is from the Exclusive Daisy Set, and the dots were added with a fineline marker.  Be sure to check out what Dot & Tricia will be sharing on Saturday for the Watercolour Weekend!

Ai Foundations Door

  I've created a fall scene with the 5433 - WC Foundations Door set for the upcoming Watercolour Weekend on the Art Impressions blog:  

I began by cutting my Canson XL Watercolor paper with the largest of the 5063 -A2 Stitched Rectangle dies, and put it into my Misti.  This allowed me to place the large Foundation stamp exactly where I wanted it on the paper, and then I coloured it with my Tombow #969/565 combination and stamped it.  Being a large stamp, it's easy to miss an area, so any part that didn't stamp completely, I could stamp it again while it was still in the Misti.  After pulling out the colour with a damp brush, I then added the pumpkin from 5059 - WC Harvest set, masking off the pot, and colouring it in #228 Gray Green, and again in #946 Gold Ochre.  I used the cluster from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set to fill the upper left pot in #565/228.  The wheat sheaf from 4763 - Southwest in #991 Light Ochre filled the tall pot, and the leaves stamp from Flower Set - 4052 in #565 filled the rounded pot.  The two foliage stamps from 4605 - Spring Basket were stamped in #228 over the door in all directions, sometimes colouring just half of the stamp to vary the lengths.  I used the daisy bunch from 4605 in #946 to add clusters of flowers over the door, and in the smallest pot, then used two of the branches from 4964 - WC Branches Set with #969 to add branches over the door and to the tall pot.  With the tiny green from 5009, and #228, I added greenery to the small pot, and then used it with #312 Holly Green to stamp the heart shaped wreath on the door.

With all of the stamping done, I now painted in all of my images, pulling colour from my palette to paint the terra cotta pots in #947 Burnt Sienna, #N57 Warm Grey 5 to the pots and watering can, and #312 to the rounded pot, going back several times to add layers of colour.  The door was painted with #992 Sand and #969, first with a wash, then streaks of colour to imitate a woodgrain.  The walls of the house were painted with a wash of #990 Light Sand.  I used #565 to add shadows around all of the images, under and around the door, and on the stairs.  I used my Twintone Navy marker to draw the ribbon to hang the wreath, add lines to the door, and to darken areas that had been painted out.  I added a little grass, and a few dots with a marker to finish my scene.  Be sure to check out the Ai blog on Saturday to see what Dot & Tricia have created!

Brand New Art Impressions Foundations

 It's time for a new Watercolour release with Art Impressions!  The four new Foundations sets are each a different large scene, where you simply decide what is going to go in each container.  I'm using the wonderful 5434 - WC Foundations Wood Table today!  I decided that I would make my scene a Farmer's Market - just think of all the different things you could put in those containers!

Before I started, I stamped out all of the images from WC Peeking Animals, and WC Veggies to create masks.  The first thing I stamped was the pumpkin!  Using #933 Orange/#177 Dark Jade, then covered it with a mask.  After stamping my foundations image in Tombow #969/#565, I started by stamping the squirrel in #947 Burnt Sienna, and the possum (I think??) in #992 Sand.  Then, I went to town masking like crazy.  I masked off the edges of each pot, so that the veggies would appear to be in them.  I'm just going to list all of the images and colours used:  Eggplants #636 Imperial Purple; Tomatoes #856 Chinese Red; Broccoli #249 Hunter Green; Artichokes #076 Green Ochre; Yellow Peppers #993 Chrome Orange.  I used the Salvia from 4052 - WC Flower Set 1 in #565 in the top bucket, and the bloom from 4605 - Spring Basket in #856 in the lower bucket.

I painted all of them in by picking up the colour from my palette, adding it in layers to achieve deeper colours.  The warm pots are painted in #947, the blue ones in #493 Reflex Blue, and the greys and wood table are all painted by mixing combinations of #969/#565.  The large grass from 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1 was stamped in #177 around the containers and the colour was pulled out with a damp brush.  I used #565 to create shadows around the sides, under rims and in all the darker corners of my veggies & pots!  #493 was painted in as the sky, and I stamped the sentiment from 5136 - WC Sentiment Set 2 on a circle of watercolour paper cut with the 5064 - Circle Double Stitched Die.  The entire scene was cut out with the largest 5063 - Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Die.  Head over to the Art Impressions blog on Saturday to see the gorgeous projects Dot & Tricia have made!
