The Challenge #5 - Guest Designer!

Well, I was pretty excited to have been chosen as the winner for Lesley Croghan's sketch challenge called "The Challenge" this past week, and as the winner, she's asked me to join her as a guest designer for the current challenge, #5!  I chose one of the new Art Impressions Girlfriends sets and some pretty October Afternoon papers:
It's a fairly large card, 5" x 6 1/2", as I thought the larger card would balance the size of the image.  Here's a closeup:

And here is the wonderful sketch:
We would love to have you play along!  You can find the details here on Lesley's blog.  Here's my proud winner's badge:

Patterned papers are Cakewalk, October Afternoon; Cardstock is Slate & Colonial White, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Stamp set is Laughing Set, Art Impressions; Copic Markers; Twine is American Crafts.

Laughing Girlfriends

It is my Tuesday post on the Art Impressions blog today!
I'm sharing a card made with one of the newest Girlfriends releases: Laughing Set (Sku#4385)
Now the funny thing about this set, is that these two gals strongly resemble two girls that work where I workout!  The hair, the facial features - it's uncanny how accurate they are... and the two of them have been friends a long time, so this set makes me smile :o)  Here's a closeup:

You'll want to check out all four of the new 2014 Girlfriends sets - you can find them here!  And there is still time to participate in our current Best of Friends challenge, we want to see your cards with two or more people on them.

Happy Stamping everyone!

Viva La Verve

I thought this week's Viva La Verve sketch would be a great way to show off some background paper, and then decided to try a new technique on my stamps.  I pulled out Verve's Bloom & Grow set, and coloured the flowers and leaves with my Tombow markers.  I gave them a light spritz with water before stamping them, which gave them a cool water stained/watercolour look!  I really like how they turned out.  I originally had just a plain cream background panel, but felt the card needed a little something more, so I used a page out of an old dictionary instead that I stitched down.
Here's a closeup of the flowers:

Patterned paper is Woodland Park, October Afternoon; Cardstock is Crystal Blue & Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp sets are Bloom & Grow, Verve and All of You, CTMH; Ink is Outdoor Denim, CTMH; Tombow markers.

Seize the Sketch & Color Throwdown

This card came together in a strange way tonight...  I loved the colours in this week's Color Throwdown challenge, and when I stumbled across the sketch at the Seize the Sketch challenge I knew that I wanted to give it a try.  I've used these Carta Bella papers for several cards, so I pulled them out onto my craft table, and sitting there beside them was an image I'd coloured weeks ago, perfectly fitting the colours, the papers and the sketch?!  It all came together pretty quickly after that:
It's not quite this limey in person!!  Here were the challenges:
Patterned papers are True Friends, Carta Bella; Cardstock is Slate, Cotton Candy & White Daisy, CTMH; Ink is London Fog, Memento; Copic Markers;  Flower & Button, CTMH; Stamp set is Camper Crazy, CTMH.

Atlantic Hearts Challenge

I've had this little hello coloured and sitting on my desk for a while now, and when I saw this week's sketch at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, I knew it would work nicely.  So just a quick and easy card tonight, using some pretty CTMH papers that are retired:

Easter Gift Set

It is my Tuesday post on the Art Impressions blog, today!
Easter is just around the corner, so I've made up a little gift set to celebrate the occassion!  Warning - lots of photos ahead...  One stamp that is definitely a signature image for Art Impressions is "The Fence" (Sku#P1499), and I am using it to make a Front & Back card along with Bunny FB (Sku#K1566), F & B Peeking Rabbit (Sku#K1750), Egg Basket (Sku#G1755) and Got Eggs? (Sku#D4015):
There was a lot of stamping, colouring and fussy cutting for this project - and yes, it did take a little time!  Here's what I started with on my craft table:

I began by colouring and fussy cutting around each piece.  The outer fence is part of the card base, and I glued the second fence to the back side of it.  Then I glued on the die cut grass along the bottom edges.  I added the bunny butts to the outside of the card, and matched their fronts to them on the inside, along with the basket of eggs.  I created a little hillside of gingham paper and glued it to the inside base along with the clouds and sky, then stamped the sentiment, "Got Eggs?":

For the matching treat holder, I cut a 4" x 12" piece of cardstock, scored it at 5 1/4" and 6 3/4", and cut a 2" circle out of one end.  I used a Spellbinders Label die to cut a shape for the top, and a small strip of green cardstock folded over the top.  The bunny was fussy cut and glued over the circle:

I used just the backview image, because I wanted it to look like the bunny was peeking in at the eggs:

I filled a small cello bag with Easter grass and a few chocolate eggs, then sandwiched it between the topper that I stapled on.

Did you see the Mini Front & Back images that we launched here on the blog a few weeks ago?  Well they would all work just perfectly with both the fence and the treat bag idea - and not just for Easter, maybe for a birthday party?  Another occassion?  And be sure to check out the Front & Back section on the Ai website - there are several dozen images to use along with the Fence.
Copic Markers used:
Fence: W1, W3, W5
Bunnies: E51, E53, E55, C1, R20, R22
Basket: E53, E55, E57, Y21, Y23, R81, R83, G40, G43, B01, B00, B000, V20, V22
Happy stamping, & Happy Easter!

I really loved the latest Verve release stamp set "Better Together", and it works perfectly for two of their current challenges.  The April Diva Inspiration challenge is "Chevron Chic", and I've used the Week Two sketch on the Viva La Verve blog.  This is a very CAS card for me!

Merry Monday & The Challenge

I'm combining two challenges, today... Merry Monday asked us to use a snowman on our Christmas card this week, and when I saw Lesley's sketch for The Challenge #4, I knew I had the perfect image to work for both!  I've used this sweet image from Art Impressions several times, and it always seems to fit with these papers:

Patterned papers are Merry & Bright, Carta Bella; Verve Mini Classy Label die & Banner die; Stamps are Caroling Tots (Sku#T3607), Art Impressions and Frosted WOTG, CTMH.; Copic Markers.

Texting BFF's

I am posting on the Art Impressions blog today.
I hope you enjoyed the Design Team's hop to launch the new Ai BFF's stamp line last Thursday!  You're going to be seeing a lot of them around here, as they are hugely popular... today I am featuring the Texting BFF's (Sku#4408):
This set cracks me up! - have you ever noticed how your kids practically refuse to pick up the phone, but insist on corresponding completely by texts with their friends?!?  So when I saw these gals sitting back to back saying: "Let's talk soon!" and "I haven't seen you in forever!" it reminded me of two people living in my house who shall not be named.

I have a feeling I'll be using this set pretty frequently for birthday cards over the next while!  We would love to have you join our current challenge, which is Friendship cards - you can find that post here.  Happy stamping everyone!

Senior-ita Gloria

This is my "Third of the month" post on the One Crazy Stamper blog, and I seem to be in a "bright" phase this week...it helps chase away the winter blahs!!  I am sharing a card using Stamping Bella's Seniorita Gloria, and I reached for my Doodlebug Springtime papers again...
I popped her up with some pop dots, then added a few enamel dots and some Baker's Twine.  I keep my cards fairly graphic & simple, so I opted to put the sentiment on the inside:

Here's a closeup of Gloria:

Don't forget that our challenge this month is "Anything Goes!"  You may use any stamped image for your card or project (no digis, please!) you can link up your creation here.

Zoo Crew card

I am posting on the Art Impressions blog today! (This is my second post for today, please scroll down to see my One Crazy Stamper post)
I have a masculine card to share with you, using one of the fun Zoo Crew images: Buzzard Set (Sku#4194).  I find guy cards a little bit harder to embellish... so I tend to keep them on the simpler side, but I used a chevron embossing folder on my cardstock background to give the card a little extra texture and jazz it up a little:
There is still time to participate in our Getting Girly challenge!  We want you to share your fun girly cards, maybe with a little pink, maybe with a little bling?  You can find the post here!
Happy stamping everyone!
