Bonus New Year's Eve post!

I was scrolling through a few card photos... and came across three that I don't think I've posted this year.  So I thought I'd sneak them onto my blog as my final post of 2015.  Here are two spinners that I made for Art Impressions last summer, and a try-fold I did about a year ago:

Thanks to everyone who stops by my blog now and again - I appreciate the comments, and hopefully I've given you a little inspiration along the way.  I'm already working away on new projects for January, and look forward to seeing what the rest of you are busy making this year.  Have a very Happy New Year!

Polar Bear greeting

I did find one more Christmas card that I haven't posted - this is Polar Hug by High Hopes.  I made this for my friend Lora & her family (she just happens to be the owner of High Hopes Rubber Stamps!) so I wanted to make something just for her, using her wonderful images.  I used some Carta Bella papers from a few seasons ago:
I added a few Stickles, that you can't see, onto the snowflake diecuts, the icicle border & the penguin's hat; used my sewing machine to zigzag over the cardstock strip, and added my favourite embellie - gumdrops, to match.  The sentiment is from Art Impressions.  I am entering this in the December High Hopes blog challenge!  This is my last post before Christmas - so to those of you who celebrate, have a Merry Christmas!  I hope to be back before the New Year with a few more posts, in between finishing up CHA projects.

My top 5 Art Impressions cards of 2015

Oh, my goodness - another year has flown by.  So many cards, so little time...  As always, I've had a wonderful time posting here and on the Ai blog, and colouring up all those fabulous Ai images.  I really enjoy putting these kinds of posts together, because I literally revisit every single card that I posted this year.  I could've easily come up with a Top 25 list - but after much deliberation, here are my Top 5 of 2015:
Using Live Laugh Love (available at Michael's stores)
Simon Says Stamp exclusive Stamptember set
I hope you've enjoyed some inspiration from our projects that we share - and I want to thank those of you who visit me here and on the Ai blog, play along with our challenges and leave us such lovely comments!  Enjoy the holiday season, and best wishes for a Happy New Year!

Folded book trees

You may have seen my post a few days ago with my book carved snowman... well it was all part of a table centerpiece idea I had for a party I had yesterday.  To go with the snowman, I made four folded book trees.  (I won't go into details - if you want to make one just google it, or search for them on Pinterest).  They were a huge hit at the party, I think I may be making a few for gifts next year:
I cut out a couple of kraft paper stars with my Cricut, added a little distress glitter and glued them on top of the trees.
I made two large, two small and put one of them up on a small pedestal to vary the height a little.  They looked great in the center when I put out all the food around them.

Cold noses

I had fun making six of these on the weekend - they were quick to colour, and the assembly was pretty smooth as well.  This is one of the three images in Art Impressions Christmas Cheer Set (Sku #4666):
I used some textured white cardstock, and cut it with my Memory Box Golf Landscape die to make the background, then popped up the bears with some pop dots.
Patterned paper is CTMH; White Daisy textured cardstock, CTMH; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Copic markers; Golf Landscape die, Memory Box; Stamps are Christmas Cheer set, Art Impressions.

A Book Carved Snowman

Here is a little project that I saw on Pinterest, and decided to make up a couple to give as gifts.  If you Google "book carving" you'll get all kinds of amazing results, and plenty of how-to's.  Scroll down to see how I made it:
I started by tracing 3 half circles on the cover of a Harlequin!!  Once you get started cutting with an Xacto, it goes quite quickly.  Mine is good and sharp, so it would cut about 10 pages at a time.
After carving, I fanned him out to break the spine, and make sure that the pages would sit evenly.
I decided to use two books, and glue the covers together, as I wanted him to be really full (each book is around 185 pages, so a single book around 300-400 pages would work, too.
I couldn't find a pre-made top hat in the stores, so I bought a square of black felt, die cut a large and small circle, and cut a strip - all of which I glued together to make his hat.  I raided my yard to snip some tiny twigs to use for his arms which I hot glued between the pages.  I cut a thin strip of plaid fabric that I wrapped around his neck as a scarf - and that was it!

Well, people are certainly getting in the holiday spirit around here this week, with Christmas just days away!  So I have the perfect holiday card for you today, in some non-traditional colours.  Here is the fun gal from Art Impressions Cheers to You set (Sku #4664):
Isn't she festive??  She was fun to colour, and would look great in a more traditional colour combo, too.  Now I have a bonus card to share - with the holidays fast approaching, I won't have time to share many more cards, and I really loved how these little guys turned out.  Here is the snowman trio from the Holly Jolly Set (Sku #4667):

Snowmen Christmas

I was still in need of several Christmas cards, so I went for a fairly simple design that I could reproduce easily (I made six of these!).  I picked out some Basic Grey paper from a few years ago, and let the paper do all the talking:
Patterned paper is Figgy Pudding, Basic Grey; Cardstock is Black, Kraft & White Daisy, CTMH; Stamp set is Scandinavian Wishes, CTMH; Let it Snowflake dies, MFT; Matte silver sequins, CTMH.

A Cup of Kindness

Verve has released a fabulous digi stamp set with a coffee/cocoa/holiday theme... so I could hardly wait to get it made up into a card!  I'm combining a couple of challenges - the sketch from The Challenge #54, along with the December Verve Inspiration challenge.  And of course, I'm playing along with the Coffee Lover's Holiday Blog Hop:
Patterned papers are Christmas Cheer, Bella Blvd; Santa Express, Doodlebug Designs; Stamp set is Cup of Kindness, Verve; Let it Snowflake dies, MFT; Copic Markers; Lagoon Cardstock, CTMH; Flamingo Dots, CTMH.

Holiday Coffee Lover's Blog Hop

It's that time again!  I am participating in the 2015 Winter/Holiday Coffee Lover's blog hop today!  This is one of my favourite events to be a part of - the ideas that people come up with are so inventive...  I've pulled out the Cathy Caffeine set from Art Impressions, and paired it with a Verve sentiment.  Here's what I came up with:
Patterned papers are Tis the Season, Echo Park and So this is Christmas, Carta Bella;  Stamp sets are Cathy Caffeine, Art Impressions and Holiday Treats, Verve; Copic Markers.
