Freshly Made Sketches #87

This background paper makes for a pretty busy card!  But it is so bright & cheery, that I really wanted to use it for this week's Freshly Made Sketch.  I love this little pop-up flower die that was made to go with these papers!  And oh, before I forget - the internet is a wonderful thing... when my sewing machine had issues a few months ago, I borrowed an older model from my MIL, and I haven't been able to get the tension right.  I was able to find the ancient manual for the machine (thanks, Singer!) online, and fixed the problem!  So you'll be seeing more sewing on my cards again :o)
Patterned papers are Hello Summer, Echo Park; Cardstock is Tulip & White Daisy, CTMH; Stamp set is Borderline, Verve; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Flower & butterfly dies, Taylored Expressions.

Rainbow cards

I have LOVED this stamp set ever since Close To My Heart came out with it a few years ago.  I've seen a lot of rainbow themed cards lately, and thought that this font would be perfect to do up a bunch of fairly generic birthday cards for my kids to give to their friends.  I did up a few different versions with different accessories:

and the plain & manly version:

Patterned papers are Dotty for You; Cardstock is Black & White Daisy; Stamp sets are Polka Dot Alphabet & Happy Birthday; Inks are Tulip, Sunset, Creme Brulee, Pear, Pacifica & Black.

April Humble Artist's Swap

This is my April offering for the Humble Artist's Swap... we were again able to do "anything goes" as long as we had an 8 layer minimum.  This was one of my very first projects using the lovely Claire papers, and I used a layout that is pretty popular right now, with some kind of a medallion, and a hanging penant.  I coloured the Buzz & Bumble workshop on the go stamps with Copics to match, and layered the flowers for a bit of dimension:

Patterned papers are Claire; Stamp sets are Buzz and Bumble WOTG and Avonlea WOTG; Outdoor denim chevron ribbon; Bitty Pearls; Ink is Outdoor Denim; Copic Markers;  Cardstock is Outdoor denim, Blush & Colonial White. - all products are Close To My Heart.

Theory of Negativity

I loved the title of the current challenge over on the Art Impressions blog... "Theory of Negativity"!  They want to see how we use our negative die cuts... so I came up with this fun card idea.  A friend of mine has just become a new Grandma, and is VERY excited to say the least - so I wanted to make her a card.  This little AI stamp called "Millie" pretty much captures Marilyn's current frame of mind, so I coloured her in some girly colours with my Copics, and popped up a double negative die cut frame to show her off (the colour of her sweater isn't quite so funky in real life, just in the photo!):
Patterned papers are Woodland Park, October Afternoon; Cardstock is Slate and Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp sets are Millie by Art Impressions and You're Invited, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers, Sparkle, CTMH.

Retro Sketches #62

I am playing along with Retro Sketches today... and if you're thinking that my card looks pretty similar to the one that I posted yesterday, you'd be right.  Even though the sketches are quite different, I used the same paper pack and lacy die cut, and both sketches have the main element offset to the right...  I have a son graduating in a few weeks, so I'm going to need a number of grad cards, and thought this would fill the bill:

Patterned papers are Farmhouse, October Afternoon; Cardstock is Slate & Colonial White; Stamp sets are Words of Wisdom, Verve & Adorable, CTMH; Inks are Whisper & Honey, CTMH; American Crafts twine; Labels 11 die, Spellbinders and Tilda Swirl die, Memory Box.

Dynamic Duos #51 & Seize the Birthday #16

Well, I just had to come back and link up a card to this week's Dynamic Duos challenge, as a player this time :o)  The colour combo is a very pretty yellow & blue duo, so I pulled out my October Afternoon Farmhouse papers and I used the current Seize the Birthday sketch.  It's not my favourite card ever, it's either over or under embellished - I can't decide which??  When I took away the flowers, it looked like it needed something... and when I tried to add a different ribbon or some twine, it just looked like too much!  I took that to mean that it was time to walk away :o)  Here it is:

Patterned papers are Farmhouse, October Afternoon; Cardstock is Slate & Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp set is Borderline, Verve; Mini Vintage Oval die, Verve; Tilda Swirl die, Memory Box; Inks are Honey, Slate & Black, CTMH; Slate polka dot ribbon, CTMH.
