Freshly Made Sketches #105 & Simon Says Stamp!

So I still seem to be hooked on the little flying witch in Art Impressions' Air-Hag set!  This time I coloured her on white cardstock, then used a circle die to cut her out, leaving the little cat's head peeking out.  I sponged the edges of the circle in Creme Brulee ink to give it the appearance of being the moon, and then pop dotted her up.  My favourite part of the card is the Spring Iris cardstock squares that are behind her - they look a little like a twilight sky, and give the card a vaguely eerie look!  I stamped one of the little bats on the background, and added a branch die cut as a creepy tree.  I've used the lovely Freshly Made Sketch from this week as well.  *This week Art Impressions is featured on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge blog (here) there are two pretty fabulous prizes being given, so head on over to check them out:

Here's a close up of my witch:

Patterned paper is Wings; Cardstock is Black, White Daisy & Spring Iris; all CTMH; Stamp set is Air-Hag set (sku#4309), Art Impressions; Grove Branch die, Memory Box; Copic Markers; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento.

Anything Goes Challenge

It is week two of the Art Impressions "Anything Goes" challenge - so hop on over to the Ai blog and link up your creation!  There are always wonderful prizes to be won.  Next week is a special birthday for my (MUCH older) sister :o)  So I pulled out exhuberant Millie, some Teresa Collins papers, and some glitter paper:
There's a little rhinestone on her sweater as well, so the overall effect is a little more glittery than it comes across in the photo.  Here's a Millie close up:

The CTMH glitter paper cut beautifully in the Cricut!

Patterned papers are Summer Stories, Teresa Collins; Cardstock is Slate and Colonial White, CTMH; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Stamp is Millie, Art Impressions; Glitter paper & sparkle, CTMH; Cricut Artiste cartridge, CTMH.

Cathy Caffeine

It's my day on the Art Impressions blog today, so I am featuring a fun Ai People stamp set that was released back in August:  Cathy Caffeine Sku#4327.  I have a real 'thing' for coffee themed cards, so using Cathy was a given for me, as soon as I saw her!  I've made two cards to share with you today, both using the same stamp and the same sketch/layout - but two totally different looks:

When I am stamping images that are to be coloured... I stamp a bunch!  Usually on both cream and white cardstock.  In this case, I picked out my background papers, and then sat down to colour them both at the same time.  And when I find a card design that works for a particular stamp set... I'll usually repeat it.  So even though the end results are quite different - you can see the similarities.  Here are some close ups of both Cathys:

Given my passion for coffee themed cards, I'm sure this won't be the last time you'll see me using this cute set!  Oh, and the inside sentiment reads: " Coffee...the most important meal of the day!"
Happy stamping everyone!

Freshly Made Sketches #104

I bought this Verve stamp set just after the holidays last winter, so this is the first chance that I've had to ink it up!  I knew it would work perfectly on the vertical pennant shape on this week's Freshly Made Sketch:
Patterned papers are Aspen; Cardstock is Outdoor Denim, Creme Brulee & White Daisy; Ink is Outdoor Denim; - all Close To My Heart; Stamp is Peace on Earth, Verve; Stars dies are Taylored Expressions.

Halloween Window Card

It's my Tuesday post on the Art Impressions blog today:
I don't usually make a lot of Halloween cards... so I am having a blast colouring Art Impressions' Air-Hag set (Sku#4309), and I knew that she would be perfect to be used in a card where you'd be looking out the window to see her flying by...
I used the die to cut black windows for the both the outside and inside of the card, to finish it off cleanly, and then hand cut through all the layers to make the opening before gluing the window frames on:

I was inspired by the softer greys/rusty oranges used by fellow design team member Kerry last week (see her card here!)  Here's a close-up of my version:

You still have one more day to play along with our "Oh My Chickens!" challenge, and you just might get some free goodies if you go shopping on the Art Impressions website:

Happy stamping everyone!

Standard Broom

It's my Tuesday Art Impressions post, so I am sharing a card using the just-released Air-Hag Set (sku#4309)

The sentiment says "Standard Broom equipped with Air-hag"!
This is a very CAS card for me!  But it looks deceptively simple... there is a wee bit of colouring involved, and some serious fussy-cutting!  I started off by making myself a circle template, and sponging the Creme Brulee ink around the edges:

Then I added a tree branch die cut, that I rotated 90 degrees to look like a creepy tree:

After colouring & cutting the witch and two little bats, I pop dotted them and adhered to the base:

Here are the Copics that I used (plus YR13/15/18):

Don't forget to check out our current "Bird Brains" challenge (use a chicken on your project!) over on the Ai Blog - there are fabulous prizes to be won!  Happy Stamping!

Deconstructed Sketch #117

Yay!  I managed to squeak in a little me time to participate in a few of the challenges that I've been missing out on for the last few weeks...  I pulled out one of my Key Ingredients kits from last year, and a CTMH stamp that I don't believe had seen ink yet... and used this week's Deconstructed Sketch to make this sorta retro looking card:
Patterned papers are Fabulous by Simple Stories; Cardstock is Chocolate & Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp set is Card Chatter - Focus On You, CTMH; Inks are Chocolate & Champagne, CTMH; Spectacles die, Taylored Expressions.

Color Dare #59

I am very pleased to be a guest designer on the Color Dare blog this week!  If this isn't a challenge blog that you're familiar with, there is a weekly colour challenge posted on Fridays, using Close To My Heart colours.  This week our palette is Slate, Whisper + one other colour of your choice - so I chose Juniper:
I have used the Avonlea Worksop on the Go stamp set, stamping the script image in Whisper as the background, and the Thank You sentiment in Juniper on an Art Philosophy shape that I popped up on pop dots.  A few sparkles, some scrolly Juniper die cuts, a little polka dot ribbon, and voila!
I hope you'll check out the challenge and join us by playing along.

Cardstock is Slate, Whisper, Juniper & White Daisy; Inks are Whisper & Juniper; Stamp Set is Avonlea WOTG; Polka Dot striped ribbon; Sparkles; Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge - all Close To My Heart; MFT small scroll die.

A Rainbow Celeste card

Well, it's been a slow few weeks on my blog, as we had two weeks of vacation, followed by one week of getting our son ready for University, followed by a week where I worked 3x my normal shifts while I filled in for others on vacation!  Yesterday we got Adam all settled in at Western, and with a little luck, life will now settle down into the new normal :o)
It's my day to post on the Art Impressions blog, so I am sharing a bright & sparkly Celeste card, which features one of our newest Ai People stamps from our recent release (sku #4326):
Celeste is one fun gal to colour!  With her spunky outfit, just about anything goes... so I cut strips of different polka dot papers to create my own rainbow background.  I coloured and cut out Celeste a second time, and pop dotted her up along with the sentiment for a little extra dimension:

A close up to see the layers:

Here are the Copics that I used:

Happy Stamping everyone!
