Beach Try-fold card
I'm kicking off the month of May on the One Crazy Stamper blog with a bright & fun Try-fold card using Art Impressions Beach TF Set:
When I saw these Doodlebug papers in the One Crazy Stamper store - I knew immediately which stamp set I'd use! The card base is just a flat rectangle of patterned paper, and when the ribbon is untied, this is how it opens:
The stamp set includes all three beachy images, plus the sentiment: "may your life be filled with blessings as countless as the grains of sand" - and includes complete stamping/cutting instructions. After colouring, I glued some patterned paper to the back of the two side panels to cover up where the markers bled through. Art Impressions/Tombow Blog Hop!
Hello and welcome to the Art Impressions and Tombow USA blog hop!
You should be arriving here from Jennie Garcia's blog... but if you're just starting here on my blog, you may want to head over to the Art Impressions blog to start. Both design teams are hopping today to share some fabulous projects with you. I'm using one of the Art Impressions Try-fold sets, Suburb TF Set (Sku #4579) to make both a tryfold and a regular card:

To put my Try-fold together, I used Tombow's Mono Adhesive Permanent tape runner - applying it just to the center rectangle, then I adhered it to my black mat, and the blue base:
For my regular card, I stamped just the "inner" house image, and coloured it with Copic markers.

One Crazy Stamper May Challenge
It's time for a brand new challenge on the One Crazy Stamper blog - and for May, it is "Anything Goes" - you can use any products you like, just no digi stamps, please! I am sharing a square card with Bertha Big Mouth - she is one of the three new Big Mouth stamp sets from Art Impressions, and Lora has all three of them available in the OCS store. I have a few photos to show how I've put her together, so scroll down for more info. Here's my little sweetheart:
Here is what she'll look like when the recipient receives the card... she's not a small gal, as the card is 5 1/2" square. Then you pull on the tab, and...
her mouth opens to show her rather toothy grin. The inside sentiment is "It's your birthday. Smile while you still have teeth!"
After colouring the stamped image of Bertha with Copics, you use the die that is included with the set to cut out her chin, and along the seam of her lips. This little section that you cut out, is then glued onto a pull tab where you've stamped and cut out her teeth as shown below:
I've glued a 1 1/2" square of black paper onto my base, under where her mouth will be, and have cut two slits that the pull tab will be threaded through.
After threading the pull tab through the slits, I glued the white mat onto my card base. I put pop dots on the back of Bertha, being sure to leave the area under her chin open so the pull tab can move, and then she was positioned over the chin and adhered.
In this closeup, you can see how her chin and lower lip are just a little lower than the rest of her.
And here she is with the tab pulled down about 1/2". There are a few steps involved in putting the Big Mouths together - but they're easy to do. Check out what the rest of the One Crazy Stamper Design Team has to share with you today on the OCS blog!

Got Any Cake?

Sports Fan Shaker
I have a fun masculine card to share with you today - using one of the Art Impressions Shaker stamp sets: Sports Fan Shaker:
The set comes with this cute little sports fan, as well as a separate stamp of just his foam finger. After stamping and colouring both images with Copics, I fussy cut around the foam finger, and mounted it over the main image using an Action Wobble. If you've never used an Action Wobble - you need to give it a try (you can find them in the One Crazy Stamper store here!) - it's a little plastic spring, sandwiched between two adhesives, so when you either shake the card, or flick it with your finger, his little hand wobbles back and forth. The stamp set comes with one Wobble to start you off. Here's a closeup from the side so that you can see it peeking out:
The other thing I love about this set - is that you can customize it by using whatever team colours you like for your favourite sports fan - perfect for everyone! New Watercolor Minis from Art Impressions
The Art Impressions Design Team is launching a brand new group of Watercolor Mini stamp sets on the Ai blog today!
If you've never tried any of the Ai Watercolor stamps - you should! It's the easiest way to create a beautiful watercolor scene using stamps with markers, distress inks or paints. I'm using Cottage By the Beach (Sku #4606):
There are six mini sets available on the Art Impressions website today - so head on over there to check them out! Cottage by the Beach comes with the beach house image, the kite and the flowers (the sentiment is from the Garden TF set (Sku #4203). I started by colouring the outline of the house image with a grey Tombow marker and stamped it on my square of watercolour paper. Then I scribbled several Tombow markers onto an acrylic block, and stamped some distress ink on there as well - and this became my palette! I picked up the ink with my paintbrush, and added the sky, sea, sand and grass. I used my paintbrush to soften the lines of the house, pulled some of the grey ink in to shade the roof and the house, and add a shadow underneath it. I carefully inked up the flowers using distress inks right onto the stamp, making the stems green and the flowers a periwinkle blue colour - and stamped this repeatedly in the foreground. Finally I added the little kite, softened it with some colour and added a string to it.
This photo shows the colours a little more accurately. I spattered a bit of dark grey ink around the painting - it only shows up faintly, but I really like the look. I popped up the image on pop dots and tied some twine beneath it.

Another Vintage Vixen
I've been playing with another one of the newly released Vintage Vixens from Art Impressions! All of the ladies in this collection have a little bit of attitude going on, which I absolutely love :o) Here is my card using Six Layer Set (Sku #4592):
One of the papers in this pack had a smaller pattern on it, so I decided to paper piece her dress, and coloured the rest of her up with Copic markers. Don't forget that our Make Me Smile challenge is still happening here on the blog - and I think my little Vintage Vixen fits the bill perfectly.
