Sketchy Saturday Christmas card

I am just sneaking in a post using last Saturday's Sketchy Saturday sketch from Laurel's blog... and I try to use her sketches for Christmas cards whenever I can, so I managed to get two made this week:

I used Echo Park's A Perfect Winter papers, my new Echo Park Holiday Season Word Die set, and my Alpine Stitched Snowflakes from Poppy Stamps.  I added a little zigzag stitching on each of the stripes.  Two more Christmas cards in my stash!

Sketchy Saturday Christmas cards

It took me a couple of days to complete these... but I am happy to say that I got four Christmas cards done this week using Laurel Seabrook's current Sketchy Saturday sketch.  It's a great sketch for using busier papers, so that's what I did.  I used some CTMH papers from a few years ago called City Sidewalks, that are really pretty.  Here's what I came up with:

 I'm going to dig out some tiny red gems that I have in my stash - and will add them as the dot in the i!  I add some red zigzag stitching and attached part of the sentiment with my stapler.

Patterned papers are City Sidewalks, CTMH; Cardstock is White Daisy, Cranberry and Peacock, CTMH; Dies are Stitched Alpine Snowflakes by Poppy Stamps, and the word die is Verve; Stamp set is Baking Penguins by Inky Antics.

A Sketchy Saturday Valentine

I am using Laurel's Sketchy Saturday sketch for a valentine card today.  I just bought this 1canoe2 plaid paper at The Crafter's Workshop... and I'm a little obsessed with it.  I wasn't thrilled with the card I made with it yesterday - but this one I really like.

 For the little strip down the middle... I was searching through my stash, trying to locate my vellum, and came across this 12x12 sheet of rust coloured mesh?  I only vaguely remember getting it, and had never cut into it!  It fit perfectly with the vibe that I wanted for this.  I used my Cricut to cut a heart from the metallic rose gold paper, and die cut the word from some older paper.  I used my stapler to attach the mesh strip .

 I'm trying to get better at staging my photos this year... improving the lighting, and trying a few new angles.  Here's my attempt at a flat lay shot, too:

Laurel will have a new sketch up again tomorrow, I'm sure, but for now, I'm happy to have my first valentine ready to go.

Lawnfawnatics & Sketchy Saturday

So this card ended up a little busier than I intended (grin)... It is totally inspired by my niece, Allie, who used this stamp set this week, and I had yet to pull mine out (gasp!).  I decided to play along with the Lawnfawnatics current colour challenge, and am using Laurel's current Sketchy Saturday sketch.  So here is my (slightly) busy card:

I am using Lawn Fawn's Winter Alpaca stamp set, Really Rainbow Christmas papers and Stitched Hillside dies.  The paper is a coordinating cardstock from American Crafts' Tropical pack.  Stitched Alpine Snowflakes are from Poppy Stamps.

Another Sketchy Saturday

Laurel's Sketchy Saturdays are back up on her blog... so I've been working away all week to get six cards made up for my stash.  I recently bought a little kit of Echo Park's "A Perfect Winter", and it came with matching Enamel dots, phrases & shapes - so I used a little of everything.

Sketchy Saturday is back!

Sketch challenges are my favourite... so I couldn't be happier that Laurel Seabrook has brought back her Sketchy Saturdays.  She does great sketches!  Such a great way to have a little fun, and get another Christmas card done.  I don't often use stickers out of my paper packs... but I'm determined to make use of a lot of the ones that I have.  Here's what I came up with:

Patterned papers/stickers are Season's Greetings by Echo Park.  Stitched Snowflake dies are Poppy stamps.  Here was the sketch:

Retro Christmas with Sketchy Saturday

Yay.  Two more Christmas cards for my stash!  Laurel always has great sketches for her Sketchy Saturday posts, so I hope to use them for Christmas cards as often as possible.  I pulled out some October Afternoon papers with a distinctly retro vibe, and put a couple of cards together:

Patterned papers are Silent Night by October Afternoon; Dies are Spellbinders, Heirloom Ornament; Pine Bough from Your Next Stamp & Stitched Circle die from My Favorite Things;  Sentiment is This is Christmas from Close To My Heart.

Art Impressions Watercolours

Well, we are just coming out of the horrible ice/snow/freezing rain situation that has plagued the east for the last few days... and the one upside was that I was forced to stay indoors and craft (forced!!).  I somehow managed to get 16 cards put together.  I will admit that I had a pile of Art Impressions watercolour images already painted up, so it was just a matter of picking papers and putting them all together.  Here are the first of them that I'll be sharing over the next few days:

 I am teaching two Ai Watercolour classes at the Workshop in Stouffville Ontario this week, so these are some of the samples that I brought to share.  I finally had a chance to use the gorgeous new Lawn Fawn gingham papers - they were the perfect soft background.

Art Impressions Watercolour sets used are: Rustic Containers Set; Garden Wagon Mini Set; Foliage Set; Flowers set; Flower Set 2; and Watering can.  Sentiments are CTMH. Marvy & Tombow inks.

Sketchy Saturday & Inspired By

Like the rest of the continent, we're having a chilly, snowy spring.  So maybe that's why I took Laurel's Inspired By photo and turned it into a Christmas card?  Not what I set out to do... I had this wonderful Lawn Fawn "Knit Picky" paper that reminded me of the knitted throw in the photo, and then I went searching to see what papers I had in blue tones... and there was Echo Park's I Love Winter.  And of course, it turned into a coffee/hot chocolate type of card, too.  I used Laurel's Sketchy Saturday sketch as well:

 And when you make a Christmas card... you always make a second one :o)

I used a couple of Memory Box dies for the snowflakes & mug, and added a few tiny rhinestones for a little sparkle.

Inspired By & Sketchy Saturdays

Laurel Seabrook has two great challenges on the go right now... and I am playing along with both of them.  She has started Sketchy Saturdays on her blog, so I took the sketch and squished it down to make a horizontal card.  For her Inspired By challenge... I don't own any fox images, and my kitty ones weren't really the right fit, so I went with the graphic patterns and colours shown in the photo.

My brother-in-law likes to have a stash of cards on hand, so I'm sending him this one that'll work as a valentine or a general card that he can give to my sister!

Patterned papers are Photoplay & Papermania by Docrafts.  Dies are Verve (heart) and CTMH (love).  Coloured staples are CTMH.
