Reverse Foil Rose

I tried a bit of an experiment today!  I used the reverse foil of a background plate that didn't turn out very well.  There were sections of it that were quite good, and others not so much - but I was hoping it would give a bit of a distressed vibe.

I first used rose gold foil to glimmer a piece of peach cardstock with the Art Deco plate from Pinkfresh Studio (love this!), and used two colours of Pinkfresh ink to colour it with the coordinating stencils.

I used the Build A Flower: Rose dies from Altenew to cut out the base layer of the rose and leaves from my unsuccessful reverse foiling.  Then cut the remainder of the pieces out from peach and pale green cardstock.  I used the same ink colours to darken the layers, and assembled my flowers.  The sentiment was also layered on the reverse foil panel, and attached with 3D foam adhesive.  I spattered some rose gold metallic paint on my card.

Not my favourite card, but the process was fun.

Pink Peonies

 When I pulled out the Lush Peony Bouquet press plate a few days ago, I pressed and glimmered a bunch of images, so you're going to see a lot of these over the next while!

I hot foiled the plate with gold foil onto some pale pink cardstock, then used the coordinating stencils, and a mix of Distress and Pinkfresh Studio inks to colour it up.  These come together so quickly.  I used my Beam paint to splatter some gold over the florals.

I used a decorative rectangle die to cut it out, then added foam adhesive to attach it to my base.  The glimmered sentiment was also attached with foam dots.

Lush Peonies!

The first of many projects to come using the lovely Lush Peony Bouquet press plate and stencils from Alex Syberia.

I glimmered it with Rose Gold foil on a textured peach cardstock, then used the coordinating stencils and inks from Pinkfresh Studio to colour in the image - so quick to get such amazing results!

I matted it on a coordinating green cardstock (the photos aren't amazing, the colours aren't quite this bright in real life), then added a foiled sentiment with 3D foam adhesive.

Cascading Lilies

The April Betterpress Society plate, Cascading Lilies, is SO pretty!  Lots of possibilities with this one.  I decided to create a tri-fold card with it.

I decided to hot foil the plate in gold, along with a couple of the sentiments, then used the coordinating dies to cut them all out.  I was even able to successfully do the reverse foil of the image!

I added a little ink to the flower centers to match the gingham background.

The gingham paper was attached to the card front, and the tab that I cut with the foiled image was adhered behind the card back:

I hid the sentiment and a couple of vellum vines under the lilies, so they show up after the first flap has been opened.

I added an organdy ribbon to the back of the card, and tied it closed, then placed a few gold pearls on the gingham.

The inside has a companion sentiment.

More Fresh Picked Anemones

 While I had this colour palette still out on my craft desk, I decided to try it with the Fresh Picked Anemones dies from Spellbinders.

I've always used this set with bold colours!  So I'm kind of loving the softness of this.  I did a plain white background that I used Altenew's Dotted Tile piercing plate on, and I spattered some gold paint to pick up on the touches of gold on my card.

The sentiment is from the It's Your Day press plate set, that I glimmer hot foiled in gold.  Happy to have two of these on hand!

Warm painted background

This card is the warm version of the blue watercolour card I posted recently.  I painted them at the same time, doing the same wet-on-wet technique to move the colour around.  I painted both the card base, and a large scrap strip that I used to cut out the bits and pieces.

I hot foiled the grid plate from the March Betterpress Society set, Teardrop Mosaic onto my background using Rose Gold foil - and it's stunning!  The Floral Spray die set from Spellbinders was used to cut the flowers and foliage from my painted scraps.  I had a little metallic rose gold cardstock, so cut the small leaves and flower centers from it for a little shimmer.

After creating my floral grouping, I used the You Are Everything Sentiments plate to press my sentiment in Lisa Horton Copper Pot metallic ink on watercolour paper, and added it with some foam adhesive.

Foiled Lotus Field

I tried hot foiling the gorgeous Lotus Field press plate from Hero Arts - and it turned out beautifully!

I am using Aura hot foil from Spellbinders, which is actually a pale gold in real life, with a subtle glimmer of colour - it's not nearly as rainbowy as the photos show!  Still, it is absolutely gorgeous.

This one was pressed on white Hammermill cardstock, with only some very slight imperfections.  I wanted to keep most of the image, so the card is a little larger than A2 size.  I matted it with black, and adhered it onto a panel of Concord & 9th's Bluebell cardstock.

I used my Pinkfresh Studio reverse foiling plate to use the negative, which gave me the foiled flowers.  The image foiled really well with just a few imperfections.  My most successful reverse foil so far!

Here's a slightly better representation of the colour!  I used a hot foiled sentiment on black, and added a few black jewels.  Below shows the two foiled images.

Golden Bloom SocieTea cards

Spellbinders does a craft-along event once a month, called the Betterpress SocieTea!  I played along with Erin, switching things up a little with what I had on hand.

I glimmered the February Betterpress Society press plate, Radiant Blooms in Rose Gold foil, on some melon coloured cardstock.  I used the Arched Expressions dies to cut out an arch shape from my panel, and then cut a larger one out of some mango cardstock.

I used my Fresh Picked Buttercups dies for the florals, and popped up a pressed sentiment from the You Are Everything sentiments.  I few gold pearls picked up the glimmer from the foil.

I had the lovely foiled, arch frame leftover, so wanted to make a companion card.  I added the mango cardstock behind the opening, used the same flowers, and decided to use a sympathy sentiment.  You can get a Betterpress Society subscription from The Papercrafter's Workshop.

Trio of Tulips & Daffodils

I kind of went to town this week using the new Tulips and Daffodils press & foil plate from Yana Smakula for Spellbinders.  I made 3 cards, all with a very similar colour palette in three different ways.

My first card was foiled on some gingham printed Hammermill paper from Art Impressions, using Rose Gold foil.  This worked so beautifully!  I'm still pretty new to foiling, so when it works out this well, I'm just speechless.  I've really been wanting to try using the Ai papers, as I thought they'd be perfect for foiling.  The sentiment is from the Bouquet of Sentiments set, and I struggled to get this one to foil well.

Second card - just pressed with Betterpress black ink on regular cardstock.  Again, great image - and I coloured it with stencils/ink.  I added a little light blue ink in and around the flowers, probably wouldn't do this again, but it kept the background from looking too stark.  I cut it out with my Essential Arches dies, and matted it on some Ai patterned paper.  The sentiment was foiled in gold on the patterned melon coloured paper.

My third card was a bit of an experiment.  I wanted to press on some yellow cardstock, and do just a pale ink blend on the blooms.  I used Betterpress Saffron ink to press the image off center, and just lightly stenciled in the ink.  I used the Serenade Sentiments dies cut in metallic gold, and stacked with a second layer to add my sentiment across the bottom.

For someone who isn't a huge yellow fan, I've certainly been reaching for it lately!  But hey, daffodils...  Stay tuned, I may try some of the 'fantasy' coloured blooms that I've been seeing others do.  This collection will be available soon on the Papercrafter's Workshop site.

Foiled Tulips & Daffodils

 Today I'm sharing the foiled version of Yana's Tulips and Daffodils press & foil plate.

I used gold foil on Hammermill white cardstock, and it pressed so beautifully!

I used the coordinating stencils and Pinkfresh Studio inks to add in the colours, using a fine brush to add the peach tones to the daffodil centers.  I foiled a sentiment from the Friendship Grows press & foil set, and attached it with 3D foam adhesive.

Friendship Grows in Rainbow

Spellbinders has a new monthly challenge, and January is 'January Glam' - and I just happen to have a brand new Glimmer Hot Foil machine!  So far I've had really good results, as this is only my second foiled image.

I am using the rainbow foil that came with the kit, and wanted a large plate that would show off the entire rainbow, so this is the November Betterpress Society plate, Friendship Grows.

After foiling, I used the included dies to cut out both edges, then adhered it to my card base with 3D foam adhesive.  The sentiment is from the It's Your Day Sentiment Strips press plate, pressed on the wonderful Brushed Gold Treasured Cardstock.  A few gold pearls finished it off.  As always, it's hard to photograph metallics - but I think you can get an idea of how pretty this is in real life.
