The Challenge #17

Just a quick card to share today... when I first saw the sketch & colours on The Challenge post this week, I immediately thought of a coffee card (probably the colour Espresso that led me there...) but I ended up making a simple Christmas card, using some Waltzingmouse stamps and Echo Park papers that I had sitting around:
Patterned papers are A Very Merry Christmas, Echo Park; Cardstock is Kraft, Cocoa & White Daisy, CTMH; Inks are Ruby & Cocoa, CTMH; Stamp set is Vintage Ornaments, Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Deconstructed Sketch #127

Just under the wire here in getting a card posted tonight...  It's been a crazy 7 days, but I do believe that all of my commitments have ended, so I'm looking forward to a slightly more sane pace in the weeks ahead :o)  Scroll down to see a few pictures of one of the events that added to my crazy schedule this week.  Now for my card...  I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch, and one of my Art Impressions favourites, "Ugly Sweater":
and here's the fun inside sentiment:

Patterned papers are Very Merry Christmas, Echo Park; Cardstock is Kraft, Ruby & White Daisy, CTMH; Stamp set is Ugly Sweater, Art Impressions; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Hemp, CTMH.
And here is what my daughter and I did with my brother-in-law yesterday.  It's called the Edgewalk on the CN Tower in Toronto.  We were 116 stories above the ground, on a platform that is 1.5m wide.  Even though we were securely harnessed in, I had a bit of a death grip on my rope (smile).  Paige loved it.  That's me in the red hat:

Tags for Dynamic Duos #31

I think I'm pretty much done my Christmas cards for 2012... so I decided to take advantage of this week's Christmassy colour scheme at Dynamic Duos to get some tags made.  Our colours this week are Certainly Celery & Real Red, so I used Close To My Heart's Pear & Holiday Red.  I die cut all the bases in Kraft cardstock, then got busy stamping and die cutting snowflakes to embellish them.
Here are a few close-ups:

We would love to have you join us this week at Dynamic Duos!  You need to use just the two colours (or something similar) in your project - and the addition of neutrals like kraft, black, greys etc. are allowed.  Check out the rest of the design team's projects (links on my sidebar, or visit the DD blog!)  Not everyone went with a holiday theme - so there is plenty of inspiration.

Stamp sets are A Very Merry Christmas, & Perfect Fit Holiday, CTMH & Vintage Christmas, Waltzingmouse Stamps; Cardstock is Kraft, Holiday Red & White Daisy; Inks are Pear & Holiday Red; Spellbinders Vintage Ornament dies; Let it Snowflake dies, My Favorite Things; Cricut Artiste & Art Philosophy cartridges, CTMH; Hemp, buttons & sparkles, all CTMH.

Frame 'em up!

Here are the last two cards that we did at my Christmas card workshop.  We used the wood panelling papers from the Dakota paper pack, and cut them into frame pieces that they sponged softly with slate ink.  The ornament & mitts were stamped in the base colour, then again on scrap paper in contrasting colours that we glued on for the cuffs and the stripe on the ornament.  A little glitter, a few snowflakes and some baker's twine, and voila:

Patterned paper is Dakota, Stamp sets are A Very Merry Christmas and Glad Tidings (Verve); Inks are Slate, Sky, Gypsy, Cotton Candy, Black & Pear; - all CTMH; Martha Stewart glitter & snowflake punch; Baker's Twine, the Twinery.

Sketchbook Saturday #83

Chupa has a very different sketch this week for Sketchbook Saturday!  I wasn't going to do a Christmas card, but these cute Cosmo Cricket papers caught my eye, and I thought they'd work nicely.  I have a real thing for retro papers, especially Christmas ones - and CC does it so well!  Here's what I put together:
Patterned papers are Jolly Days, Cosmo Cricket; Cardstock is Vanilla Cream, CTMH; Sentiment is A Very Merry Christmas, CTMH; Ink is Black, CTMH; Buttons CTMH.

Mojo Monday #266

I picked up these fun Carta Bella papers last week, so I made a non-traditional coloured Christmas card with this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I added some chunky glitter to all the snowflakes, so it's very sparkly in person:

Patterned papers are Merry & Bright, Carta Bella; Cardstock is Heavenly Blue, Black and Colonial White, CTMH; Stamp sets are Glad Tidings, Verve and A Very Merry Christmas, CTMH; Inks are Heavenly Blue, CTMH & Tuxedo Black, Memento; Mocha Opaque pearls, CMTH; Martha Stewart's Course Glitter.
