Glitzy's birthday

It is my daughter's best friend's birthday tomorrow... whom we affectionately call Glitzy, after a small pot-bellied pig of the same name.  So of course when we recently saw this Doodlebug Designs paper, we bought it with her birthday in mind.  I've had the card idea floating around in my head for a few days (pretty simple, just a few stitched dies), and then decided to make a tiny little tea light candle birthday cake to match... and maybe a little gift bag to hold it in.  Kind of piggy overload.
Patterned papers are Down on the Farm by Doodlebug Designs; Dies are My Favorite Things; Gift Bag Punch Board, We R Memory Keepers; Sentiment is Verve.

Card and Tealight Set

It's my posting day over on the Art Impressions blog!
I have a girlie birthday card and matching tealight cake to share with you today, using the fun Out to Lunch (sku#UM3576) set.
These have been a huge hit with my daughter's friends whenever I've made a little tealight cake to match their card.  Perfect for when you need a little extra somethin' with your gift.  I designed my card first, piecing together strips of patterned paper, and zigzag or straight stitching them over the seams with my sewing machine.  I pop dotted my matted image, and glued a strip of rosette ribbon along the bottom:

I purchased a bulk pack of the plastic tealights, and assembled my pieces using scrap bits from my card:

There is a tiny on/off switch on the bottom of the tealight, so before I attached it to my cake base, I cut a tiny hole so that I can access the switch:

I cut a small hole in the center of the cake top, just large enough to fit over the flame:

Lastly I glued on four little ribbon flowers.  Here is a photo with the little flame switched on:

My inside sentiment:

Happy Stamping!
