Birdie & Scratch

I am posting on the Art Impressions blog today...
I have a fun Bird Brains card to share with you, using Birdie & Scratch (Sku#U1831).  This has always been my favourite Bird Brain image... the grin on Scratch's face cracks me up!  I always like to use papers with a bit of a country/barnyard feel to them when I play with the Bird Brains, so that's what I've pulled out:
And for the inside, I used Strut your Stuff (Sku#F1861):

There is still time to play along with our "Let's Get Krafty" challenge, we want to see you use Kraft paper on your project, like I have with my card today.  You can find the current challenge here!
Happy stamping everyone!

Let's Get Krafty!

This is week two of the Let's Get Krafty challenge on the Art Impressions blog, so I've pulled out the fun Girlfriend Blend (Sku#T4136) and the Daily Grind (Sku#F4145) sentiment.  It's a fairly large card, 5" x 7" on a kraft base, using the Basic Grey Persimmon papers.  I added a Prima flower that I've had for a while, and a little adhesive scalloped kraft strip.  You'll want to check out the challenge on the Ai blog - there are always fabulous prizes to be won!

Shades of Grey

Only two, I'm afraid :o)  I am up on the Art Impressions blog today!
I've veered away from my usual style of bright colours and patterned paper today... to try a little sponging.  Art Impressions has a wonderful collection of "scene building" stamps which I have been itching to use... and as you can see, once I got started, I couldn't stop:
I've used two shades of grey ink and paper, with the occasional bit of black thrown in.  The first few cards are using Deer (Sku#H3236) and Grove of Trees (Sku#H895):

I kept my cards very CAS, so that they can be used for any occasion - I even thought about adding a little glitter to some of the snow so that they could be holiday cards.  The card bases are bright white in reality, even though they appear a little grey - but when I edited them any more, the detail of the sponging disappeared in the photo.  Here's a shot of how I masked the rectangles and moon:

Happy Stamping, everyone!

Fusion Challenge #4

I was inspired by both the sketch & the inspiration photo for this week's Fusion Challenge... even the colours of the butterflies made me want to stick with pink & pretty colours.  Here's my card:
Patterned papers are Woodland Park, October Afternoon; Mini Monarch Border Die, My Favorite Things; Pippi Butterfly Die, Memory Box; Cardstock is Twilight, Heavenly Blue, Colonial White & Hollyhock; Ink is Grey Flannel; Stamp set is Card Word Puzzle - all CTMH.

Humble Artist's Swap

This was my final creation as a member of the Humble Artist's Swap - way back in June!  I never did get a chance to post it... so thought that I would now.  I don't have the criteria handy, but we usually needed to do a minimum of 7 or 8 layers.  It was such a wonderful group to be a part of, and the artwork I received was always inspiring.
Patterned paper is Buzz & Bumble; Cardstock is Cocoa, Sunset, Creme Brulee & Champagne; Ink is Cocoa; Brown Glitter Paper; Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge; Chalks; all CTMH.

Val

Well, isn't this little cherub the cutest?  His name is Val... and he is part of the Val Set (Sku#4214).  I've made a couple of square cards to share with you today, the first is 5 1/2":
I added a strip of black glitter paper, and popped up Val & the sentiment for a little dimension.
My second card is just a little smaller - 5", since I put the sentiment on the inside this time.  This time I stitched around Val, and the patterned background paper, and again popped him up over some Baker's Twine.

There's still time to get those Valentines made!  Scroll through the last few weeks of posts on the Ai Blog - you'll find all kinds of inspiration from the Design Team.  Happy stamping!

A little coffee card

Yes, I love my coffee themed cards!  I've had these papers out on my desk for a little while, so I wanted to try a card using Cathy Caffeine, with the cup paper pieced.  I know my blog has been a little quiet lately, but I received a bunch of new goodies, and have been madly colouring behind the scenes, so hopefully my posting will pick up over the next little bit.  We are big Olympic fans in our house, so I plan to do a lot of colouring while watching the games.  Here's Cathy:

Patterned papers are Claire; Cardstock is Outdoor Denim, Cotton Candy & Colonial White - all CTMH; Spellbinders die; Copic Markers; Stamp set is Cathy Caffeine by Art Impressions.

Pop-Up cards

I have an interesting product to share with you today... Art Impressions has a number of different Pop-Up cards that have a bit of a decoupage look to them - all the layers, but not the mess.  These were so much fun to put together, and didn't take long at all.  All you need is a little cardstock to mount them on, and some pop-up adhesive to put between the layers.  Here is Birthday Surprise:
They come on a sheet of lightweight card, along with clear instructions - all you have to do is punch out all the pieces.

And here is Birthday Party:

Both cards are 5 1/2" square.  You can keep them simple, or you can jazz them up a little like I have, by stitching the base onto a black mat, and adding a little glitter strip trim.

Valentines

I have two valentines to share with you today, using two of the newly released 2014 sets: Love and Chocolate Set (Sku#4367) and Wanna Share Set (Sku#4368)  I used this week's Deconstructed Sketch for both cards (switched up a little!):
Here is the Love and Chocolate set... I actually had the card completely assembled before I realized that I'd used the sentiment from Wanna Share (but it works perfectly with both images!).  The sentiment included with this set reads: "Here's to love and obscene amounts of chocolate!"

And here is Wanna Share:

I must say, that Valentine's Day is probably the only time I'll put pink & red together on a card - it's definitely the one time that it works!

There are six brand new Valentine sets and three new sentiments available in the Art Impressions shop - you can find them all here.  Happy stamping everyone!
