Mojo Monday #154!

Here is this week's Mojo Monday sketch with the option of going square or circular:
I've been wanting to try Close To My Heart's clear acetate cards for a while... and this one fit the bill perfectly.  This little circular card is teeny!  It measures barely 4 1/4" edge to edge, but is perfect when you only need a little greeting on the inside.  I chose our new Christmas paper pack, "Mistletoe", and inked the edges up with a little Cocoa ink:

I've shown a few different pics... because it's really hard to photograph the acetate without getting a glare from the flash!  Here's what it looks like opened:

All supplies are CTMH: Papers are Mistletoe; Cardstock is Cocoa & Colonial White; Inks are New England Ivy & Cocoa; Cranberry Sparkles; Clear Cards; Adhesive - Liquid Glass.

2 for 1: Playdate Cafe #44 & Mojo Monday #153

I combined 2 challenges this week... first I decided to use the Mojo Monday sketch:
And suddenly I decided to do the Play Date Cafe's "Colour Horribilus" Challenge this week, using the bizarre colour combo of hot pink/yellow/navy?!?:

And...since I just got a Cuttlebug this week, I had this little embossed stars template just waiting to be used.  So here is my not-so-typical challenge card for this week:

All supplies are CTMH: Stamp sets are Star Power and Star Struck; Cardstock is Outdoor Denim, Sunflower & Hollyhock; Ink is Outdoor Denim; Hollyhock Organdy ribbon.

Creative University

If you take a peek over here to the left... you'll see a new button, which is a link to "Creative University".  Tresa Black is an uber-talented CTMH consultant, who makes the most hilarious and informative videos sharing all kinds of tricks and creative talents.  This Saturday, August 28th, she is hosting a 9-hour Ustream video marathon, featuring some great papercrafting artists who will be teaching live classes on the hour.  The button will link you to the ustream channel directly - and the fun starts at noon Eastern.  I'll be there for as much of it as I can, but the awesome thing is that all of the classes will be taped so that you can view them at your leisure.  If you get a chance, zip on over to her blog and check out some of the videos that she has on there, (watch the Stamp Wow parody!) and scroll through to see her fabulous artwork: http://fabulouslyartsy.blogspot.com/

Heart2Heart Challenge

I smiled when I read this week's Heart2Heart Challenge: "stitching" - since I stitch on almost every card I make!  I especially love to zigzag... and to do it on curves & circles.  So - with all that in mind, I pulled out Magnifique, one of CTMH's new fall paper packs, and started stitching.  The design is loosely based on a Wishes card pattern, "Sentimental Wave":

All supplies are CTMH: Patterned papers are Magnifique; Cardstock is Chocolate & Colonial White; Ink is Pacifica; Stamp Set is Buttoned Together; Basic Buttons.  Card is 4" x 9 1/2".

New colour - Smoothie!

Second post of the day... after receiving 4 of our new colours today, I was playing around with "Smoothie" to see what it looked like with a few of our colours, so here it is with Creme Brulee & Blush:  (this is NOT my best stamping, I was playing with the August SOTM "Something Splendid" and wasn't taking a ton of time - but loved the results and wanted to make them into some simple square cards)

Color Throwdown Challenge #106

Yay!  I got my first order of new fall product today... so decided to use one of my new stamp sets for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

All supplies CTMH: Stamp set - The Present; Cardstock - Chocolate, Sweet Leaf, Colonial White, Bamboo; Ink is Chocolate, Brads Chocolate, Ribbon is Heavenly Blue.

Just a little something...

Wine bottle cozy?  Wine ruff?  Wine bottle dress?  I believe the pattern is called a "Drip Catcher" - and no, it's not my design.  I found it in the book "Knitted Gifts" by Interweave.  Isn't it adorable?  My kids think I'm nuts, but I love knitting little things, especially those that use up leftover sock yarn.  So beware - if I'm bringing a bottle of wine to your house this fall, you just may receive a drip catcher!

Mojo Monday!

I had a great time working with Mojo Monday's sketch #152 this week...
Here's my take on it with a little hand stitching: (the ribbon really caught the flash in the photo, it's not quite so "slick" looking in real life!)

Patterned Papers are Basic Grey, Urban Prairie collection; Prima flowers; Martha Stewart punch; Stamp set is Goodness of Life; Ink is Black; Cardstock is Black - all CTMH.

A Guy Card

Making cards for the men in our lives is just that little bit harder than 'girl' cards... so when I come up with something that works - I'm a happy stamper.  My girlfriend requested a card for her husband's birthday later this month, so I pulled out some Basic Grey papers that had been sitting around for a while.  I'd bought these papers for scrapbooking, and had never considered them for cards before??  I'm pretty pleased with the result, and with the extra distressing I did around the edges.
Patterned paper is Basic Grey, everything else is CTMH: Cardstock is Cocoa; Stamp set is Gracious Greetings; Ink is Cocoa; Natural Hemp; Basic Buttons

Color Throwdown Challenge #104

Most people who participated in this week's Color Throwdown Challenge seemed to see this colour combo as "summer"... but I definitely saw it as "fall".  I pulled out my Treetops stamp set, added some ribbon, sanded a little - and here's what I came up with:  (oh - and look for the birdies!)

Two of the trees are pop dotted for a little dimension:

All supplies are CTMH:  Stamp sets are Treetops & Somebirdie Loves You; Cardstock is Sorbet, Creme Brulee, Colonial White, Olive; Inks are Olive, Sorbet, Creme Brulee & Desert Sand; Chocolate Ribbon Rounds

Color Throwdown Challenge #103

This week's Color Throwdown challenge incorporated these colours:

I loved what Tracey Mason did with the Damask Tiles stamp set (here), so she was my inspiration this week.  This is my first attempt at ribbon pleating!  The ribbon is cream organdy, and shows up better in real life:
All supplies are CTMH: Stamp sets are Damask Tiles, State of Mind; Cardstock is Tulip, Sweet Leaf, Colonial White; Inks are Sweet Leaf & Bamboo - edge distressed in Desert Sand; Flower is Just Blooms; Bamboo button; Garden Green Waxy Flax; Colonial White Organdy
